Lawrence O'Donnell: Karl Rove Was Plame Leaker

Could just be gossip, but I have a feeling it isn't.

Instapundit suggests that media-types -- who first pushed this, then began claiming no crime had been committed when their fellow reporters were threatened with jail for not revealing sources to a grand jury -- will now reverse themselves and claim a very GREAT crime has been committed, as the grand jury now seems to have what it needs and the 666th name of Lucifer, Karl Rove, has been mentioned.

Goodness. I certainly don't imagine that media-types would so cynically begin reversing themselves. This Instapundit character seems like an unhinged paranoiac.

...and it's just an amazing coincidence that the one guy (with a less than stellar track record in this sort of thing) who decided that it could be Rove announced it to the world right before the 4th of July three day weekend. Now, the rumor can get solidly established in all of the right places before the real story comes out next week telling us that they don't really know for sure, or that it was someone else altogether...

No, it's wishful thinking. I doubt Rove would have leaked that info to reporters from Time and the NY Times. Novak, maybe, but he isn't the defendant in this case.

Democrats have been desperate to nail someone, ANYONE from the Bush administration who are are criminals and evildoers, as far as they're concerned. Noow they think they've got Rove. I'd be surprised if they were actually right for once. Not that it's a big deal if Rove did leak Plame's name anyway.

Oh, and if you check out the latest Newsweek, you'll see the start of the "IT'S ROVE!" claims going down in flames.

Rakmjn's comment was similarly on the nose: He was *extremely skeptical that "a reporter for the NYT is risking jail protecting Rove." Agreed.

Not sure about the CIA part, but a Democrat is likely.
