Why are you surprised? Leftists regularly parrot unsubstantiated smears against President Bush. Of course they believe the other side would do the same. They have to; otherwise they'd be forced to take an honest look at their intellectual integrity.

the New York Times still doesn't bother reading what conservatives write. Had the author of the original piece read any conservative blogs, he would have seen what Joe Conason did, that reaction to the Drudge-hyped rape smear was almost uniformly negative among conservatives.

The Times spent a lot of ink trying to "understand" actual enemies of America and "why they hate us."

The two are actually related: rather than listen to others Liberals (like the world's smartest woman) generally consider themselves to be so far above others that they have total confidence in their own ability to "figure them out" without ever having to actually hear what they have to say.

This is a great boon to us, for if they weren't so totally arrogant and completely ignorant they'd be harder to debate. They won't and can't change either, because like a weasel will always be a weasel, they're Liberals and that's what they do. If they were not impervious to truth, reason, history and logic they'd be conservatives. As it is, generally they don't have a toe to stand on, let alone a leg.

This just confirms that after not reading the NY Times for the past dozen or so years, I haven't missed a thing.

C'mon Ace. Fair and accurate? It's the Times. I understand that thinking as opposed to following the prescribed verbage is a bit of a stretch for many liberals. Thinking isn't going to happen at the Times.

It hurts to think while you're hung over on scotch you bought at the bar down the street from the Times, on their expense account, when you're supposed to be filing stories from North Carolina.

Yes, in the nyt's view, we not Al Quada, the Taliban etc. etc etc. are the enemy - because we don't hate America the way the nyt, the Taliban etc etc etc do hate America.

And the truth is America's real enemy no 1 is the nyt, followed by the rest of the hate-filled, bigoted dishonest msm.

The folks at the NYTimes are prisoners of their beliefs, like everyone else.
Foremost among these beliefs is that if you don't agree with the NYT, you are stupid.
Or evil.
Having morally seized the high ground (or so they think), they are befuddled when they are shown that someone who disagrees with them may actually have principles. The usual next response is a disection to show that you don't have any principles, but are just trying to tactically turn it to your advantage. (See belief above.)
This is what is known as a logical death spiral, and generally leads to the user not have the ability to recognize or coherently respond to competing arguements.
We haven't see any of that around lately, have we?
