Death Camp Gitmo: And So It GoesNice political party you had there, fellers. Sorry to see it go so soon: The Senate's No. 2 Democrat has compared the U.S. military's treatment of a suspected al Qaeda terrorist at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay with the regimes of Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin and Pol Pot, three of history's most heinous dictators, whose regimes killed millions. And he's refusing to retract his remarks: Mr. Durbin did not back off his characterization in a statement to The Times last night. Today's Democratic Party We're self-loathing, but we'd love to have company in that.

Ace, could you draw horns, eyeglasses, and a little moustache on that photo? I can't stand his ugly dickface. Posted by: on June 17, 2005 02:34 AM
Let's hope the Illinois Republican Party can muster up someone better than Alan F'n Keyes to run against this stupid dick when he's up for re-election. Because, really, he just served up a big, juicy soundbite for his opponent's campaign commercials. Let's also hope that Durbin somehow winds up with hot sauce in his dickhole sometime in the near future. Posted by: Sean M. on June 17, 2005 03:15 AM
To the first commenter: Of course, they are: they elected him, didn't they? Other than that, the Dem's are afraid GWB will do the worst, most cruel thing in the world, that is, he'll outlaw the use of remote controls to the boob tube, and all those hard-workin', hard-playin' loyalist Dems (read NEA, labor in general, educrats and welfare slaves) will have to put forth some effort to do more than bitch that they lost another election. I wonder what would happen if Reid, Durbin et al would do if faced with a case of real torture? They fantasize about the economy, why not torture, too? Posted by: Carlos on June 17, 2005 04:33 AM
To his credit, Durbin refrained from drawing comparisons with Genghis Khan, Gaius Caligula, and MechaGodzilla. Posted by: planetmoron on June 17, 2005 08:02 AM
The Genghis Kahn analogy was taken -- no fair stealing Kerry's lines. Eery similarity, don't you think? All moonbats come from the same nest. Posted by: 10ksnooker on June 17, 2005 08:11 AM
Ghengis is fair game. Kerry was talking about his second cousin "Jhenjis". Posted by: Dave in Texas on June 17, 2005 09:07 AM
Dick Durbin-Laden has dishonored his state, his country, and the senate (although I didn't think that was possible any more). He should resign or be run out of govt. TODAY. I hate a grandstanding, America-hating gasbag, and this clown is giving Ted K. a run for the blue ribbon. HE CALLED OUR TROOPS NAZIS! In a just world this assbite would be hanging from a lampost on Pennsylvania Ave. as an example to others of his kind, but we will have to settle for sending him back to his duties as bagman for the Ill. democrat machine. I wonder if he likes being moveon.orgs bitch? Posted by: Rick in Stl. on June 17, 2005 09:29 AM
Durbin, Dean, and Harry Reid. Unbelievable. Posted by: on June 17, 2005 09:47 AM
And of course, Reid blamed it on the "right wing" for making a big deal out of these remarks. Because, you know, the comments are totally OK to the Dems Posted by: brak on June 17, 2005 09:52 AM
How about "Dickhead Durbin/Ward Churchill in '08" there's a winning ticket! We should be thankful for these ass-clowns since they show the true face of the democrats, and they're just more dead weight for the dem candidate in 08. Posted by: elcid016187 on June 17, 2005 10:01 AM
I was going to make mention of Chaka Kahn but kids read this and there's no need to expose them to that level of cruelty. Posted by: planetmoron on June 17, 2005 10:05 AM

This has me livid. I plan to call my Senator (Norm Coleman) later today and ask him to speak out about this outrage. (I won't bother with Mark Dayton; that guy's as big a fruit-bat as Durbin.) I am an amateur military historian, so I know quite a bit about the Nazi Death Camps, the Soviet Gulags, and the Marxist killing fields of Cambodia. It passes rational understanding how Durbin could compare Gitmo -- where there have been zero deaths caused by torture or mistreatment -- to these other abbatoirs where millions were sent to their deaths. Durbin is a disgrace. If the people of Illinois have any sense at all, they will force this numbskull to resign. Jesus. This really put me into a "Hulk Smash!!" mood. Posted by: Monty on June 17, 2005 10:32 AM
I'm surprised nobody's brought up Charles Rangel on the subject of vile, historically ignorant slanders. Are the Dems having some sort of contest this month? Does the person who makes the nastiest comparison when talking about the war in Iraq get a toaster oven or something? Personally, I'd go straight for the Satanic similes. Satan's even more evil than Mechagodzilla. Incidentally, planetmoron, what's your problem with Chaka Khan? I always thought she was sort of cute, in a Boogie Nights kind of way. Posted by: utron on June 17, 2005 10:42 AM
I hope that when he goes on one of those little "fact finding" junkets to Iraq, some Islamo-slob kidnaps his ass. It would be soooo poetic. Posted by: Iblis on June 17, 2005 10:50 AM
I don't know what you all are complaining about. I mean, look at Durbin's adorable mug. Did you hear the smouldering, barely restrained passion in his voice when he read the names of history's worst oppressors? The man is on f'n fire, and I, for one, would like to register my full support for his important message. More, more! Give 'em Hell Dickie Boy! Truth to Power! Posted by: lauraw on June 17, 2005 10:51 AM
Pillowtalk in the sense you hold a pillow over his face for how ever long it takes for him to stop talking? That type of pillowtalk? Posted by: on June 17, 2005 10:56 AM
Jeez! I know they've always been soft-headed whiners, but when did the democrats become such total pussies? Do they really believe that a nation can win a war with marshmallow wishes and sugarplum dreams? Mind boggling. Posted by: Log Cabin on June 17, 2005 10:57 AM
Hey June, if you can control yourself when he calls you a bad, bad white christian who needs to be spanked, good for you. The man makes me crazy. Posted by: lauraw on June 17, 2005 11:08 AM
Utron, if I read you a lyric sheet, and you did not know it had come from Chaka Khan, you would most certainly believe that it must have come from Goebbels, or Beelzebub or Freddy Krueger... Posted by: planetmoron on June 17, 2005 11:17 AM
Planetmoron, I find that comparison highly offensive. Although it could have been worse; at least you didn't liken her to Night Ranger. Incidentally, Tom Delay has called Durbin on his poisonous BS. He and Dennis Hastert dashed off quite a nice little note to Nancy Pelosi regarding the senator's remarks. Link to NRO's transcript of the letter here. Posted by: utron on June 17, 2005 11:22 AM
Planetmoron reminded me of the one funny thing about this....what other comparisons do they have left? They've overused Hitler, they've used up Stalin pretty much now too, so now Durbin brought up Pol Pot. What's left? They won't use Satan (too religious). Serial killers? Comic book villains? Contagious diseases? Mythological beasts? Posted by: brak on June 17, 2005 11:27 AM
I believe this is a strategy on the Dem part. Seems to me they are gearing up several columns of attack - Gitmo, Downing Street Memo, and Iraq in general - in an attempt to take out the one leg they see Republicans have to stand on: Foreign policy and the war on terror. I think it's a concerted effort, and I think you're going to see some SERIOUS political theater in the time leading up to the 2006 elections. It's a risky strategy, but it could pay off huge. They're counting on the American populace to have short attention spans as well as its general ambivalence (ranging to hostility) to extended military conflicts and parties in power. They also have a megaphone in the press, which likes nothing more than to be able to cover conflict - Clinton was fun, but dude, this is BUSH!~! It's all leading to one thing, and that's an attempt at first gaining a majority in Congress and then, the coup de grace: impeaching George Bush. It is, in other words, payback time. I hope the Republicans are ready. Posted by: Steve in Houston on June 17, 2005 11:31 AM
You know it won't be Mao... Posted by: lauraw on June 17, 2005 11:32 AM
Steve, you're probably right. They even held a "mock impeachement" trial in the Capital yesterday. Keep fanatsizing there lefties. http://corner.nationalreview.com/05_06_12_corner-archive.asp#066435 Posted by: brak on June 17, 2005 11:46 AM
A minor point to quibble over, but that article has a major point very, very wrong. The absolute minimum estimate for deaths in the Soviet gulag is 12.7 million. 2.7 wouldn't cover the Baltic-White Sea Canal. And it leaves aside the 5 to 8 million victims of the Terror Famine. The Soviet regime was truly monstrous. Comparing Gitmo to the gulag is not just a failure of perspective. It's literally insane. Never mind comparing it to the Nazis or Pol Pot. Posted by: Dianna on June 17, 2005 11:46 AM
So can anybody list the actual "tortures" the FBI agent described, or was it just monkeying with the air conditioning and turning up the Christina Aguwhatshername? Posted by: The Claw on June 17, 2005 11:47 AM
And I was reading the other day about when the germans invaded russia and the russians were forced to retreat. Instead of releasing the thousands of political prisoners they had in various prisons, the russians just set the prisons on fire with the prisoners inside.

Don't forget "close contact with a female." These Islamicists are so intimidated-shitless of females that the mere presence of one scares the crap out of them. I expressed my outrage to Durbin's office a couple of days ago. But it's time to move to the next level. We need to encourage people to write letters like this one to their senators calling for the Senate to formally censure Durbin and repudiate his statements. Posted by: Richard G. Rap music and sometimes the air conditioning doesn't work... apparently the sea air of Cuba is a bit humid for the Arabs used to the desert sands? Sen. "The Dick" (D)urbin, the #2 Senate (D)emocrat, explained that in his remarks comparing the US Military to Nazis he was in fact NOT comparing the US Military to Nazis so he wasn't going to apologize for comparing the US Military to Nazis just because he was comparing the US Military to Nazis. Speaking as one of Senator Durbin's constituents, I completely agree with his remarks. I'm sure that if Paul Simon, his mentor, were alive, he would agree with them, as well. The reason all you Republicans have your panties in such a twist is that, deep in your shriveled little hearts, you know he's right. You fascist clowns have disgraced this country. "I Love Gitmo." "It's f**king f**ked."
-- reportedly a genuine comment offered by a "senior Labour source" Correction: I wrote that Labour is losing 88% (now 87%) of the seats it is "defending." I think that's wrong. The right way to say it is the seats they are contesting -- that is, they don't necessarily already hold these seats, but they have put up a candidate to run for the seat. It's still very bad but not as bad as losing 87% of the seats they already held. Basil the Great
"The end of the two party system in the UK" as first the Fake Conservatives and now Labour chooses political suicide rather than simply STOPPING THE INVASION
Incidentally, the only reason this didn't already happen in the US is because of the Very Bad Orange Man (who is right on 85% of all policy calls and extremely, existentially right on 15% of them)
No political party that is NOT also a doomsday religious cult would EVER choose a cataclysmic loss -- and possible extinction as a party -- to support a toxically unpopular favoritism of NON-CITIZEN ILLEGAL MIGRANTS over actual citizen voters.
Only a cult does this.
Now they've lost 84%.
Annunziata Rees-Mogg Update: They've now lost 88% of the seats they're defending. As I mentioned earlier, I think I heard that London will not bail them out, as many of those Labour seats will probably flip to "Muslim Independent" or Green. Detroit's 5am vote will not save them.
Yup, Labour is losing 80% of its seats...
The British Patriot Wow, up to 1700-2100 seats. It's not incredible that this is happening. It's incredible that the Davos crowd is so absolutely determined to privilege Muslim "migrants" over the actual native population who elects them, no matter how loudly the natives scream that they want to be prioritized, that they will gladly self-extinguish as a party rather than simply representing the interests of their own voters. Astonishing. Remember, when they call other people "cultists" -- they are the ones so imprisoned in their social reinforcement and discipline bubbles that they will choose political death rather than dare upset the Karen Enforcement Officers of their cult. Update: Now they've lost 83% of the seats they were defending. (((Dan Hodges))) Nick Lowles
STARMERGEDDON: In early returns, Reform gains 135 seats, Labour loses 90, the Fake Conservatives lose 36 (and I didn't even know they could fall any further), the Lib Dems lose 4, and the Greens gain 6. Note that the only other party gaining seats is the Greens and they're only gaining a handful of seats.
Update: Reform now up 145, Labour down 98. Labour projected to lose Wales -- where they've ruled for 27 years. Fulton County Georgia just discovered 400 boxes of ballots for Labour Update: REF +156, LAB -107, CON -45 Brutal: In four out of five council seats where Labour is defending, they've lost. 80%. I'm sure it's not this simple, but Reform is straight taking Labour's and the "Conservatives'" seats. They've lost almost exactly what Reform gained. If understand this right (and warning, I probably don't), all of London's council seats are up for election, and Labour might lose hugely there, as their old voters abandon them for Reform, Muslim Indenpendents, and the Greens. REF +190, LAB -134, CON -56.
Updates on the Labour collapse in council elections -- which wags are calling #Starmergeddon -- from Beege Welborne. There are about 5000 seats up for grabs, Labour is expected to lose 1,800, Reform will probably gain 1,580, up from... zero. So this would be more than that.
People claim that while Labour has adopted the Sharia Agenda to appeal to the million Muslims it allowed to migrate to the country, those voters are ditching Labour to vote for the Muslim Independent Party or the Greens. Delicious. This shadenfreude is going straight to my thighs. Oh, and if Starmer loses about as badly as expected, Labour will toss him out of a window Braveheart style and replace him. He will announce he is resigning to spend more time with his Gay Ukrainian Male Prostitutes.
Media bias and senationalism are as old as, well, the media:

I always thought the gag was original to the comic book, but in fact the "Threat or Menace" headline was a satirical joke about media bias and sensationalism for a long while.
