My Kind of Job: Sittin' At Home, Watching the Dukes of Hazzard, Blogging About It-- For 100K* The Apprentice Shows you'll have to pay me extra money to blog about: Thanks to Evan. posted by Ace at 03:35 PM
CommentsHave you actually seen any part of any episode of the West Wing? I tell you, it's like having a baboon scream in your ear for an hour and then shit on your head. Posted by: Phinn on June 2, 2005 03:45 PM
You know, I posted this same link in a comment yesterday, on your post about paid bloggers. Okay, a link to NRO, which linked to the story. Better stick to the "American Idol" blog. If you slighted a faithful "Deadwood" fan like this, I hear them folks can use some mighty harsh language. Posted by: utron on June 2, 2005 03:53 PM
Monk is great. Tony Shalhoub absolutely owns that show. I was sorry when Bitty Schramm left the show, though; that whole dynamic between Sharona and Monk was priceless. (Plus she had that "Italian Dirty Girl" vibe that set my slacks all afluster. Her boobs could pop the pennies off a dead man's eyes.) Got the first two seasons on DVD and am waiting anxiously for the third because I always miss the show on USA network. Posted by: Monty on June 2, 2005 03:54 PM
I went to school with that Christopher Nelson guy. After 4 years of liberal arts, you can bullshit about the "complex character arc" of Scooby-Doo, let alone the Duke boys. Posted by: Moonbat_One on June 2, 2005 04:00 PM
Have you actually seen any part of any episode of the West Wing? I tell you, it's like having a baboon scream in your ear for an hour and then shit on your head. Well I don't know about Ace, but I could live without that. I'm sure Ace wouldn't mind blogging about Charlie's Angels, either...or how about that new lesbian show on Showtime? I really loved it when George Peppard was asked in an interview why there were no women on the A-Team. His response: it wasn't realistic to have a woman doing the sorts of things the A-Team did. Uh, yeah, like all that stuff they did on the A-Team was SOOO realistic! And I quite proudly say that I have NEVER seen an episode of The Dukes of Hazzard, hence my IQ has not been adversely affected. It was bad then, and I can't believe they're making a movie out of it now. Has there been any more word on whether or not the General Lee will have the Confederate Flag on its roof? Or did they bow to political correctness and keep it off? Later, Posted by: bbeck on June 2, 2005 04:01 PM
Speaking of Tony Shalhoub. he was in one of my all time favorites starring as Antonio in the series Wings. Posted by: Dman on June 2, 2005 04:10 PM
bbeck, here's an alternate version of the General Lee for you. Of course, they wouldn't actually be able to call it "General Lee." They'd probably be foreced to call it the "Secretary-General Annan." Posted by: Phinn on June 2, 2005 04:12 PM
Hey, Ace if you're gonna blog about Riptide and The A-Team , not pick some other Stephen J. Cannell series, e.g. Silk Stalkings and 21 Jump Street. I guess the better question is which Cannell offerings would you NOT want to blog about. Posted by: JFH on June 2, 2005 04:13 PM
Robot Chicken would have to be my choice of shows to blog. I get a hernia from laughing at every episode. Ace, if you haven't seen it, you DEFINIETLY need to check it out. Posted by: fat kid on June 2, 2005 04:16 PM
MST3K would be a great show to blog. If they offered me that one, I might settle for as little as $50,000 a year. Posted by: utron on June 2, 2005 04:24 PM
Phinn, I would rather slam the truck lid on my dick than watch another episode of The West Wing. Posted by: Dave in Texas on June 2, 2005 04:28 PM
For what it's worth I know the guy that got the DoH job. He used to live here in Austin and play in a band called Foggy Mountain Cop Killin' Boys. He's very creative and perfect for the job of "make up funny/interesting observances about the Dukes." Posted by: tachyonshuggy on June 2, 2005 04:38 PM
Dave in Texas: Humorous exaggeration is one thing, but dude! One summer I helped out on my uncle's farm, and got kicked in the yarbles by a horse (not full on, thank the ever loving God). The exquisite pain and lingering agony of that episode has forever left me immune to hyperbole vis a vis insults to the male organ. I personally would sit through an entire season-set DVD run of The West Wing, with commentary turned on, before I would go through that again. Posted by: Monty on June 2, 2005 04:43 PM
Deadwood jumped the shark? No way, you mother-dipping squarehead cocksucker!! Though they did kill off 2 great characters superbly acted too fast in the 1st Season - Wild Bill Hickock (Keith Carradine) and Flora the Evil Child Whore (Kristen Bell of Veronica Mars). And this season, every episode, E.B. only provokes bloodlust. Kill him already!! But they wouldn't. Posted by: Cedarford on June 2, 2005 05:07 PM
Of course, they wouldn't actually be able to call it "General Lee." They'd probably be foreced to call it the "Secretary-General Annan." HA! Sure, they have to remove the flag, but I'm bettin' dollars to donuts Daisy's arse will still be hangin' out her shorts. Later, Posted by: bbeck on June 2, 2005 05:09 PM
Shows you'll have to pay me extra money to blog about: At least triple pay to be forced to watch Shmoopie Blob-berg , she is so full of herself in the most obnoxious way. furthermore, you should be able to sue afterwards, and collect on job hazard, having an employer make you watch such pompous turnips. Iit's inhumane, simply. :-)
Posted by: Alessandra on June 2, 2005 05:27 PM
So, bbeck, if you never watched a single DOH episode, how do you know what the General Lee looks like? How would you even know the name of the car? Something is fishy here. Maybe you're just a redneck trailer park girl who loved the show and is ashamed to admit it. Hmmmmm? Posted by: Michael on June 2, 2005 05:37 PM
I'll stick up for bbeck on this one, Michael--that's the kind of manly, chivalrous thing we learned to do back when I went to school. I've never seen an episode of DoH either, but I feel like I know all about the show--the General Lee, Daisy Duke's short-shorts, and all the rest. (To be honest, everything after Daisy Duke's shorts is kind of vague.) Given the cultural environment we live in you can't help picking this crap up, regardless of how little interest it might hold for you. Posted by: utron on June 2, 2005 05:43 PM
Come on, The Dukes of Hazzard was hilarious. I watched it and I'd watch it again. Killjoys Posted by: Lipstick Dynamite on June 2, 2005 06:38 PM
S. J. Cannell is a fuckin genius. Hellooooo. HUNTER?!?! Posted by: ken on June 2, 2005 07:06 PM
I loved Simon and Simon. I actually scheduled my retail job so that I would be off on Thursdays (before my first VCR). Also, I would add Rockford Files and Magnum P.I. to the list. Posted by: jmflynny on June 2, 2005 08:27 PM
I'd love to read you blog about Arrested Development. STEVE HOLT!!! Posted by: Greg on June 2, 2005 09:17 PM
I'll stick up for bbeck on this one, Michael--that's the kind of manly, chivalrous thing we learned to do back when I went to school. \ Yeah, right. Who do you think you're fooling? You're just angling for another teeshirt photo. It's time for you to direct your creative impulses elsewhere. Assemble the clarinet, and do the break from Nights in White Satin. Posted by: Michael on June 2, 2005 09:34 PM
Michael, I know about the DOH because I married a guy from a small town in Oklahoma. HE watched it and was surprised I never saw it. So there. Incidentally, I remember commercials, too. I also have read articles about making the upcoming movie more PC. So there, again. :P And thank you, Utron. Later, Posted by: bbeck on June 2, 2005 11:45 PM
Methinks thou dost protest too much, Trailer Park Girl. Posted by: Michael on June 3, 2005 12:27 AM
Methinks your joke ist lacking in humor. Later, Posted by: bbeck on June 3, 2005 12:40 AM
Shows you'll have to pay me extra money to blog about: On the other hand, I could watch and blog for hours re "Without a Trace". The endless and only topic of the blog would be, would we like better to have Jack Malone (more mature, leader type but sensitive) or Eric Close, (in his prime, full of energy, with that handsome, clean cut look, rising in the ranks with powerful daddy to help) ah decisions, decisions... OK, stop dreaming, now back to real life. The problem is the Jack Malones of the world never divorce for at least 30 years and the Eric Closes are never single past 25. Is it fair, I ask? Posted by: Alessandra on June 3, 2005 12:55 AM
Family Guy. I'd blog that for loot. Posted by: Birkel on June 3, 2005 12:56 AM

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals. The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite. Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
