Back From Vacation

I didn't really plan on it; it just happened. But just nothing in the (thin) news the past couple of days has seemed worth linking to me.

Here's something cool. I went to the Comedy Cellar Sunday night to catch Colin Quinn, Greg Giraldo, and Dan Naturman (the funny comic who got screwed on series 2 of Last Comic Standing). A little drunk and with an extra tab of klonopin in me, I talked to Colin Quinn for a few minutes and, suddenly remembering I had a webcast show, asked him if he'd be on. "Sure," he said. "What the hell do I care? I'll do anything."

So... supposedly he'll be doing the show. He seemed genuinely not to care whether he did it or not, which is, you know, a positive sign. Best I could hope for, really.

Feeling my oats, I got similar semi-commitments from Giraldo and Naturman.

So, we'll see.

Glad to know you're alive. After two million page visits, I was worried that you celebrated by drinking yourself to death on Val-U-Rite vodka.

Just saw Colin Quinn at our Zanies last week. He was brilliant.

Looks a little odd in person, but one of the best stand-up guys I've seen. He has a few pages in South Park Republicans. They say Tough Crowd is coming back; maybe you could ask him about that.

Posted by: TallDave on May 30, 2005 11:50 PM

Oh, I think the way it works is they agree to do anything when you ask so they don't sound like dicks, then if they're really interested they return your calls; if not, not.

Hope you get him, he'd be perfect for your show.

Hopefully the Colin Quinn appearance will pan out. I've been a fan of his since "Remote Control." I didn't get the joke behind their "Beat the Bishop" game until the show was on its last legs.

(Last decent non-music show MTV ever did, in my opinion. And how long ago was that?)

how nice, two million, if things continue as they are, I plan to hit my two million in the year 4098...

Oh, admit it, ace. You told him Karol would sleep with him.

OK, I sense trainwreck.

Sorry to hijack the thread Ace, but there's a show on TLC called "Operation Homecoming" that you all MUST see. I don't know if they'll repeat tonight's episode. I hope so, because there's an amazing segment on twins who are both in the Army, and freakily run into each other in Iraq, and then one gets hit by mortar frags, and then he surprises the other one at his homecoming. WARNING: It WILL make you cry. Check your TLC listings.

Score!. you have to give him an ace of spades T shirt.
We were in the Tough Crowd studio and his monologues were the best part of the show.

Nice work Ace. You are kicking ass with the guests.

Woo and yay!

with an extra tab of klonopin in me,

I'll never know what you see in klonopin.

Posted by: 72 PG&E on May 31, 2005 12:32 PM

How about never having that feeling you drank too much coffee even though you never touch the stuff? I miss the shit out of that, I'll tell you.

Posted by: spongeworthy on May 31, 2005 12:59 PM

My attitude before I stopped using drugs was always: if I'm gonna do drugs I might as well do drugs I really like the effect of, and klonopin never matched up to others. BTW, I wonder how the raging black tar heroin habit is going for Dave and his cat Garfield?

Posted by: 72 FLYING MONKEYS on May 31, 2005 01:15 PM

Well, it doesn't match up to psylocibin, I'll give you that. Actually, alcohol was just as effective for my anxiety as the klonopin, but I can't drink on the train in to work in the morning. It's simply not done. Much better to just nod along with the click-clack of the happy happy 6:55 express.

It's no fun detoxing from benzos.

Feeling my oats...

Poor guy. All these connections and you still can't get someone to feel them for you?

Later,
bbeck

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
