Mash-Up: United States of Whatever vs. Dark Lord of the Sith

Okay, if you haven't seen Star Wars III yet (and you should wait for DVD, by the way), there's an embarassing moment when Vader is told something sad (take a guess), and he lets out this ridiculous "NOOOOOOOOOO" whine/wail.

So that's what you need to NOOOOOOOOO to find this parody funny.

Great stuff, and I know it's not old, because Dave sent it to me.

Pretty funny. But I still don't think the movie was that bad.

I'm sure you've seen this, but this is pretty bad:

Loose close italics shit.

I think that was the most disappointing moment for me in Episode III. He's supposed to be Darth Vader, Intergalactic Bad-Ass, and he let's out that whiny "Noooooo!"

The point where Vader dons the black mask for the first time should be the most pivotal and emotionally poignant scene in the entire series, and it came off as trivial and weak, almost as if Lucas was casually summing up a minor sub-plot.

Not to mention the scene where he first joins the Dark Side: "I shouldn't have helped kill Shaft Windu, whoops my bad. I guess I'll have to join the Dark Side and murder a bunch of children. No biggie."

Posted by: Jason on May 26, 2005 11:37 AM

So you'd rather him show no emotion when he is told he kiled his own wife? I admit the "noooo" was corny but it would have been ever worse if he had just jumped up and said "hey i'm an evil badass now lets go kill some people."

Posted by: brak on May 26, 2005 11:40 AM

Well, I certainly wanted him to show emotion, but the scene was just done poorly. I'm not sure how it could have been improved. The "Noooo" itself was just awful. They could have used a better take.

I guess my opinion is that, when he choked Padme, he was basically saying "I'm done with you" and his conversion to the Dark Side was complete. To get off the table and whine about her, at that point, seemed a bit off. And how did the Emperor know she was dead at that point anyway?

He could have vowed revenge on Obi-Wan or something. I don't really know. I just thought that scene was poorly done all around. But hey, I'm no director.

Posted by: Jason on May 26, 2005 11:49 AM

I took it as he was just filled with rage at the realization of what he had done, b/c it hadn't hit him yet, and the Emperor was lying to him to use that to further build up his anger to use for the "Dark Side." He should have just yelled or something instead of screaming "noooo!"

Ok this more than made up for that "not of this earth" photo of the child molester that has been haunting me all morning long!

Posted by: SithChick on May 26, 2005 11:53 AM

Damn ... that was awesome. It made me laugh every single time.

Posted by: Phinn on May 26, 2005 12:01 PM

Pardon me while I geek out once again, but the geek consensus forming is that the "Noooooo!" would have been better replaced with "arrrrgggh" or better yet, silence-- and then let Vader use the force to *really* tear up the room instead of the weak little wussy-fit he threw.

Good lord, I really never want to talk about this movie-- or Star Wars-- ever again.

And this coming from someone who actually enjoyed himself watching ROTS.

Cheers,
Dave at Garfield Ridge

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
