The Way They... Surround a Story, With Complete Silence

450 economists, including five Nobel laureates (PS, someone nominate me already), have endorsed Bush's plan for personal accounts as part of the Social Security system.

But...

This may be the first time you’ve heard about this because the Washington Post and the New York Times haven’t reported it. Neither has USA Today or the LA Times. According to a spokesman at Cato, it hasn’t been reported on any of the major TV networks, either. No one is reporting this story.

I grow weary of hearing about the MSM's superior "news judgment" as regards what is and what is not important enough to report upon. Especially as concerns print media, where it's not a difficult trick to slip in eight or ten column inches on a story. It's not as if they're limited as to space.

"News judgment" = "liberal instincts as to what is 'good for America' and/or 'good for the Democratic Party'"

I imagine the editor's meeting went this way:

Reporter: Chief, we just got word that 450 noted economists, inlcuding 5 frigging Nobel Prize laureates, have endorsed Chimpy's -- I mean Bush's Social Security initiative. Should we do a story on it?

Editor: I don't think so; that story is just not credible.

Reporter: Well, it comes from a credible source--

Editor: Nah. It's not credible. Just look: 450 economists who back the hated evil ChimpHitler -- I mean Bush and his fetid plan to squash the poor under the heels of his mighty iron boot? There aren't that many retarded economists in the whole world. 'Cause they'd have to be retarded, you know. Or evil.

Reporter: Well, some of these guys won the Nobel Prize. I think you have to be pretty smart--

Editor: Or they were, you know, high. Maybe some economists were sparking a doobie and thought it would be funny to pretend they were backing Chimpy's -- I mean Bush's blackly evil plan to force the poor to subsist on the rotting flesh of the recently dead.

Reporter: Well, I guess that's possible, but --

Editor: No, no, this story just doesn't feel right at all.

Reporter: Well, we can run an expose on how the Guantanamo guards force their prisoners to listen to John Denver's Thank God I'm A Country Boy. I heard it from this guy whose girlfriend used to date this other guy who had a cousin whose brother was a guitar player in a band that opened for Anthrax one time, and he was like totally this anti-war dude and was pretty sure it was true.

Editor: Run that baby! With that kind of concrete sourcing, how can it not be true?

You should look at it this way, Ace. I, as a non-traditional media reader learned this tidbit through you. Not the NY Times, not The Atlanta Journal and Constipation, not Oprah.

Ace.

Ace of fucking Spades.

I don't care much about the Dinosaur Media. They can go extinct. They can evolve. They no longer have the amount of power over my source of information they used to, that's all that's important to me.

Or, as I put it, one Paul Krugman trumps five Nobel prizes.

I vote for MSM-free Mondays at least until football season starts. Don't buy an MSM newspaper or magazine, don't watch MSM tv or radio. .

I would like to believe your report, but who/what/where exactly is your source? Or do we, like dumb sheep, simply take YOUR word for it? After all, Ace, if we haven't learned from the vermin infested mainstream media to ask about sources and reliability...why not your sources?
