Breaking, Blah, Blah, Blah: Karl Rove Set Up Newsweek

Gee, if the media aren't liberal, why do liberals dream up Krazy Konspiracy Konfabulations to defend the media everytime they get caught dirty?

From a "business futurist" (read: diagnosed maniac) over at the Huffington Compost:

Newsweek getting "caught" like this has Karl Rove's stink all over it. Am I the only one who sees this pattern at work? ...one that is destroying the credibility of the press? Not that the press hasn't made its own mistakes (thanks NY Times/Jason Blair)...but when it comes to "big news" stories where The White House gets to shout "How dare you!" because sources turn out to be shady (even though the facts of the story are never refuted)...

Come on, folks...who's going to benefit most from living in a country where when CBS or Newsweek says the people in power have done something bad those people can do their best Ronald Reagan imitation and say "There they go again."

The solution? Full disclosure of all sources when it comes to stories like this? I'm not sure.

But what I AM sure about it that any mainstream press organization that publicizes ANYTHING bad about this administration had better make sure they've got their source on tape and fingerprinted...not just for their own protection, but for the protection of America!

I don't do photoshops, so I'll just describe two funny ones.

First photoshop. Muslims burning the American flag. On the right, Admiral Akbar warns: "It's a TRAP!"

Second photoshop. Coupla guys sitting around a viewscreen in a badly-pixelated, old-school videogame spaceship scene. On the viewscreen is a smug Michael Isikoff. Caption: "SOMEONE SET US UP THE KORAN."

There you go.

Really no point in my buying photoshop when I'm so verbally brilliant as to paint pictures in yo's mind like that.

H/t to Brak.

This is why we need Allah. Ace get on your super secret Allah-line and tell him to get on this right away. We know how great a job he could do with this idea.

You definitely bring the verbal funny, but remember most of us readers are morons and we need pictures to help us understand it all.

FLUSH al NEWSWEEK! Wherever you find it, the bank, the doctor's waiting room, the cigar store, ANYWHERE it is provided to read- give it the indecent burial it deserves and toss it in the nearest toilet. Don't really flush it! Let it lie to marinate in its own juices. If you fee lguilty, reimburse the owner the news stand price. Well worth it!

Posted by: Dave on May 17, 2005 11:48 AM

Can I get an AMEN????

Or at least a f@#%ing closing anchor tag?

Posted by: Sharp as a Marble on May 17, 2005 11:52 AM

What?!?! Moonbats blaming conservatives?! Shut!Up! The So Far Left They Can't Be Right are not able to take responsibility for their own actions?! It's the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine).

Posted by: compos mentis on May 17, 2005 11:56 AM

It's all about givin those motherf*ckers enough rope to hang themselves with. Maybe one day (a big maybe), they'll learn about responsibility... and restraint.

Until then, the Isikoff's of the world will continue to get their scoops.

I hope it does come out that Rove planted this. That would be freaking awesome. God I hope that man writes a book when he's done with politics... the skeletons in his closet...

Posted by: fat kid on May 17, 2005 11:59 AM

Diarrhea loose shit in that post though Ace... one GIANT hyperlink? Close that tag son! :P

Posted by: fat kid on May 17, 2005 12:02 PM

it's all ROVE these days...

The fact that the Huffington Post allows this buffoon to post under their banner just speeds along the eventual demise of the HP.

This guy is a "Business Futurist" and yet is obviously ignorant of very basic Internet (which would envelope both "future" and "business) best practices.

Namely:

His whole site is composed of images. Really. Even the "text" is just images of text. That’s an easy, and stupid, way to create a site. Site content will not be indexed by search engines.

Check out his What's New page: He refers to events in 2003/2004. This "Futurist" is not only a hack -- he is an incompetent, out of touch, behind the times hack.

What's Old is New Again

One more telling thing...it's always interesting to check out the Meta tags on a page. These tags are entered by the page's author to help search engines correctly classify the page.

Some of the Meta tags from this guy's page:

Barker,Covey,Senge,Scenario Planning,Hamel,Synergy,Cooperation,Competition,Total Quality Management,Business Ethics,Corporate Social Responsibility,CSR,Corporate Citizenship,Reinventing,Reengineerinng,BreaKthrough Thinking,Community Quality,Quality of Life,Futurist,Future,Space Exploration,NASA,Star Trek,Rocky Mountain Institute, World Game,United Nations,American Society for Quality, ASQ,AQP,Participation,Kofi Annan, UN Global Compact, OECD, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Cultural Maturity, Emotional Intelligence,Globalization,9/11,World Trade Center,WTO,IMF,New York City,World Economic Forum,Davos,State of the World Forum,Ackoff,ACASA,Bush,Powell,Chaney,Schargel,Education,CQCC,Foreign Policy Association,FPA,Council on Foreign Relations,CFR">

What does the Meta info above allow us to glean about our Rove conspiracy theorist? I leave it open to the reader for interpretation.

But, a couple interesting notes:

- The guy includes UN, Davos, Kofi Anan, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development "Cultural Maturity"
- Star Trek gets a mention
- He can't even manage to spell the Vice-Presidents name correctly

Glad this bozo is on the opposing team.

Karl Rove Set Up Newsweek - I'm dumbfounded! (or some might say just simply found dumb) And after all this time I'm still in Shock and Awe over the Liberal mind! It gives me a cold shiver to think that people like this are trying to influence public opinion.

Posted by: 72V on May 17, 2005 12:33 PM

just since you haven't been paying attention ace, its [/a]

Coupla guys sitting around a viewscreen in a badly-pixelated, old-school videogame spaceship scene. On the viewscreen is a smug Michael Isikoff. Caption: "SOMEONE SET US UP THE KORAN."

Perhaps obscure, but otherwise excellent.

Posted by: Nicholas Kronos on May 17, 2005 12:40 PM

Not that the press hasn't made its own mistakes (thanks NY Times/Jason Blair)...

The real news here is that he doesn't smell a Rovian conspiracy behind the Jason Blair affair...

Posted by: Anachronda on May 17, 2005 12:43 PM

The notion of Karl Rove as Machiavellian supergenius has a certain appeal, not to mention the fact that it would explain his immense forehead. Trouble is, all of his traps share one obvious flaw: they only work if the MSM behave like hysterical, defeatist, quasi-treasonous bozos. You'd think a bunch of shrewd investigative reporters would be able to spot a weakness like that.

Posted by: utron on May 17, 2005 12:48 PM

Karl Rove set me up, too.

Either him or the Spokeane Spokesman-Review.

Any you fellers need some fatherly advice or an internship?

Posted by: James West on May 17, 2005 12:57 PM

I just wrote to Geraghty that Rove is the Goldstein of the modern left.

"Goldstein" was the name of the enemy-of-the-state/insidious-jew from Orwell's 1984. Goldstein's face would bleat (literally, as it would turn out) on the telescreen prompting overwhelming rage and hate. his face would actually morph into a goat's face, and the citizens were expected (read: required) to whip themselves into a fury during the "two-minute hate" in which Goldstein occupied the telescreen.

The effect on the left with Rove is identical to to point of disturbing. Totalitarian ideologies need the secretive evildoer (usually relegated to the figures of the jews or a jew---see Tsarist Russia). For the modern totalitarian Left, it's the neocons (jews) or Rove (the hyper-political outsider).

Rove is the Left's Goldstein.

What?

Buy photoshop?

Heh.

Posted by: Slublog on May 17, 2005 01:05 PM

James,

"a 54-year-old man should not be enticing young men into sexual relationships. There's no way Jim West can regain the trust with this community."

lmao

Posted by: hobgoblin on May 17, 2005 01:09 PM

Strictly, that should be, "Somebody set up us the Koran," but I'm sure some Farkster is already on it.

Posted by: David Gillies on May 17, 2005 01:34 PM

Rove's big secret: never deny a Bush-bashing story before it goes to print.

I love it. The MSM goes to the White House and asks "Is this rope long enough to wrap around Bushitler's neck?" then Rove takes out the tape measure, sizes up the MSM's neck, backs off and says "Sure is!"

Posted by: Sue Dohnim on May 17, 2005 02:41 PM

So the excuse now is that the MSM is little better than dumb animals who'll walk into any trap if tasty bait is in view? What kind of SATs does it take to get into J-school? Negative numbers?

Posted by: Eric Pobirs on May 17, 2005 03:38 PM

New talkings points. The new evil is Scott McClellan.

Editor and Publisher.

"Why did the Pentagon, given more than a week to respond before the fateful item was published, fail to raise an objection? Likely they knew it followed a pattern and was therefore (to borrow McClellan's word) “credible.” But it also follows the path we saw in the Dan Rather “memogate” scandal last fall, when the White House, given the chance in an advance look, did not find fault with the key documents. "

Keith Olbermann.

"Either way - and also for that tasteless, soul-less conclusion that deaths in Afghanistan should be lain at the magazine’s doorstep - Scott McClellan should resign. The expiration on his carton full of blank-eyed bully-collaborator act passed this afternoon as he sat reeling off those holier-than-thou remarks. Ah, that’s what I smelled. "

Posted by: Ripclawe on May 17, 2005 03:51 PM

HAH!!
That's funny.

The elitist media is buggering itself with no help from anyone in government. They could have prevented this and all the other embarrassment they've suffered lately if they only did their jobs competently.

Remember, the fourth estate has their own fact-checkers, and the last thing they want is to rely upon government assent to run a story.

If the administration denies a story they are accused of cover-up and it runs anyway. If an admin official tells the media to watch what they say or show some sensitivity about certain topics, there is the standard 'censorship!!' shrieking.

So at this point, what else is there to do but let the paranoid idiots sit in the mess they created?

Posted by: lauraw on May 17, 2005 05:18 PM

Oh, and Keith Olbermann is a shitty writer, and a worse thinker.

I've seen better prose in a stereo manual translated from korean.

I can't believe you thought linking that idiot would do anything for us.

Posted by: lauraw on May 17, 2005 05:21 PM

Exhibit A was the quote you already provided. Here's exhibit B:

"I smell something — and it ain’t a copy of the Qu’ran sopping wet from being stuck in a toilet in Guantanamo Bay. It’s the ink drying on Scott McClellan’s resignation, and in an only partly imperfect world, it would be drifting out over Washington, and imminently."

You gotta be kidding me.
You're actually quoting this pretender?
That's sad.

Posted by: lauraw on May 17, 2005 05:24 PM

All your toilets are belong to us.

Posted by: OCBill on May 17, 2005 10:06 PM

OMG Ace!!

That is frickin' hilarious!!!
No photoshop necessary at all. Just leave it to people's imaginations. Heehee.
"It's a TRAP!" Out frickin' standing.

It's funny 'cause it's true...

Posted by: akronin on May 17, 2005 10:21 PM

Very nice. I think you should have won over at Watcher of Weasels, but I'm not on the board... LOL. Have a great day.

Posted by: Rosemary on May 18, 2005 07:18 AM

Rove is absolutely brilliant. He must have leaked info to someone in the Pentagon, then destroyed all the evidence, then got Newsweak to print the story, then just to really tick off the liberals he let it leak he was behind it all.
