The point has been made many times that the MSM engaes in "punative Liberaism." But why do Liberals seem to admire Leftist Tyrants like Arafat, Saddam, Ghadafi, Castro, Lenin and even Stalin?

It is because they are cowards, and being cowards they are inwardly a free floating sea of repressed, boiling anger which they only allow out against "soft" targets like the US who won't strike back. Living in fear, when they see how uncomprimising and decisive tyrants are they can't help but admire them. They wish they could be so powerful. In the same way that one admires the sleek sureness, the confidence and the menace of a leopard, Liberals admire brutal dictators, including Islamic ones. By comparison, Democracy and the west seem to weak, vacillating, messy, unsure of themselves and their purpose.

One of the pillars of Vietnam era paleoliberalism is the supposed conflict between the oppressive West & the peaceable Third World, a Rousseauism. The vast majority of the MSM subscribes to this view, even if they're not aware of it.

Anything that can be shoehorned into this mold gets top play - US in Iraq, Israel vs the Palestinians. But intra-Third World struggles undermine the Left's noble savage view of non-Western cultures, so millions of people slaughtered in Rwanda, the Sudan, Bosnia, etc, are relegated to the back page.

Isn't this essentially the question Jeff Gannon was asking? When the MSM calls it a softball question, they're showing their incapacity for self-examination
