666 vs. 616 Explained

It's got nothing to do with that split between the Hebrew and Latin translation of Caesar Nero, like so many of my moronic readers suggested.

It's just about the pre- and post-tax Number of the Beast.

The Devil always gets his due, I'm told, but he's a piker compared to the IRS.

Thanks to 21st Century Paladin. Geepers, a guy calling himself "Paladin" doesn't seem like the sort of person to link this blog.

I always knew that makes Beardsley Ruml (1894–1960), the chairman of the New York Federal Reserve Bank and treasurer of R.H. Macy and Co. was Satan hisself. Guess what his birthday is?

Well, admittedly a lawful-good paladin will not typically associate with a chaotic-good half-elf sorcerer like yourself. However, I believe that 3rd Edition rules will permit such a party to campaign together in the pursuit of a common objective.

Of course, you and the paladin must conduct periodic checks against each other's CH to see if you have a fractious argument. I recommend 2d10 for every party decision requiring a disagreement between your alignments.

Since nobody knows for sure what 616/666 is referring to, the Hebrew vs. Latin Nero thing isn't necessarily accurate. The "616 vs. 666" issue rests (or should rest) on one thing only: What the original manuscript actually said. The speculation of what "it" stands for only makes sense once it is established what "it" is.

I'm pretty sure it's not pre-tax and post-tax though. But who knows...the whole tax thing was a big issue during the Roman occupation.

OK, I actually know Hebrew and I can't see how that works out.
Nero Caesar=636 and
Neron Caesar=686

Now, admittedly the difference between Nero and Neron is 50, which is the same as 666-616, but I don't see how the rest of it works out.

The argument of Prof. David Parker ThD is that 616 is not Nero's number, but Caligula's. Caligula attempted to erect a statue of himself in the Temple of Jerusalem.

Some have argued that Revelations is actually a coded attack on Emperor Gaius (Caligula).
