I, Moron: The Continuing Saga of Loretta Sanchez

Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-CA) Said She's Got "More Important Things To Ask About Than This Silly Social Security Thing."

"Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.) managed to stir up some trouble last week at the Joint Economic Committee hearing chaired by Rep. Jim Saxton (R-N.J.). Testifying before the committee was Harvey Rosen, chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers. Sanchez was evidently fed up with the contents of the hearing. 'I've more important things to ask about than this silly Social Security thing,' she said." ("Capital Living," The Hill, 4/20/05)

Now, if I were a Democrat, or He Who Will Not Be Named (who is, I guess, a Democrat, noises to the contrary notwithstanding), I would react with outrage and possibly even feel heart-ache.

But I am not, in fact, an 80 year old proper lady in the antebellum South swooning upon seeing a fly in the sugar-jar, so I won't react with that sort of effeminate emotionalism. I'll just call her an unqualified jackass and be done with it.

From a partisan source I'm not supposed to be coordinating with.

But I'm not coordinating with them. I'm just lazy.

That's my defense.

This is where those two congressional seats you're losing will likely be going. Enjoy.

No, at least 1 will go to Florida.

Posted by: ace on April 22, 2005 11:58 AM

or utah. Or florida and utah.

California is actually losing population, isn't it?

Posted by: ace on April 22, 2005 11:59 AM

Not that anyone out here has noticed. I don't know how current this is, but it shows California's population growing. And if people were in a hurry to get out of the state, home prices wouldn't be skyrocketing like they are here.

HWSNBN isn't even a blogger anymore. Have you seen his site today? He's more of an email aggregator than anything else. It looks like this:

QUOTE OF THE DAY - "Conservative Catholics are bad and stupid." - Michael Moore. These words are so wise. At the time they were spoken, they were an attempt to keep the theocrats from taking over the Catholic church. Alas, I'm afraid we've lost that battle. Will the church survive?

EMAIL OF THE DAY I - "I love your site. You are the best blogger ever. You shouldn't let the conservatives silence your necessary voice, because they're wrong and you're completely right." Yes, but will people realize that before it's too late?

EMAIL OF THE DAY II - "Catholics should be able to live however they want. Rastifarians should be able to call themselves Catholic, as should Moonies, followers of David Koresh and people who attend the Church of Spock. Pope Benedict XVI is wrong to try and limit Catholicism to actual Catholics." Pope John Paul believed this, which is why he was beloved. Benedict XVI is breaking from this valuable tradition and will take the church down the road of perdition.

It's not a matter of losing population, per se, but growing slower than other states are growing. Even populous states like California could lose seats because smaller states grow fast enough to get a bigger share.

And, if I remember correctly, the "Red" states have been growing faster than the "Blue" ones. Thus, states like Florida and Utah are likely recipients of more electoral votes, as are some other states. I'm sure it won't be just New York that loses seats.

Believe it ir not, compared to her sister (Linda Sanchez/39th District), Loretta is a rocket scientist.

The woman is a freaking moron.

Meep -

Incorrecto! Large states like California, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, N Carolina are adding - NE, NY, the Midwest losing. The gains are not in N Dakota, Idaho, Wyoming or other small pop states.

On the Sanchez sisters....if it wasn't for Cynthia McKinney they might be a lock as co-Champs for the stupidest in the House. Barbara Boxer has a lock on that title in the Senate after Republican Sen Bob Smith of NH was ousted by Sununu. But many of Mel Martinez's staff, including the fired Schiavo memo creator, Darling, once worked for Bob Smith....so we may be seeing a moron showdown looming in the Senate.

I also resent the Sanchez sister who booted Bob Dornan out. Dornan was nuts, but an entertaining Conservative. In fact, the last funny thing anyone remembers Al Franken for was him saying that Private Ryan not getting the Oscar was as insane as appointing Bob Dornan to Head the House Committee on Mental Health.

Al Franken said something funny? Huh. Go figure.

Last fall, Patty Murray was voted the dumbest Democratic Senator, and Rick "All Your Ass Are Belong to Us" Santorum, the dumbest Republican.

I believe the voting was done by Hill staffers ...

Posted by: Knemon on April 22, 2005 07:17 PM

I heard Patty Murray was dumb, as her "At least bin Laden built preschools" comment showed, but not as stupid as Boxer.

On the Republican side, I heard that Santorum is a religious fanatic who has a sack of rocks in his head, but I think he is saved from being the stupidest Senator by Boxer, and even not being the dumbest Republican Senator now that Mel Martinez is in office.

Posted by: Cedarford on April 22, 2005 09:50 PM

BTW Knemon -

I heard another vote had staffers rate Arlen Spector as the meanest, most difficult Senator to work for. Hence the name "Snarlin' Arlen".

Right behind him? John Kerry, who is thought of as a pouty, aloof prick.

The best to work for? Ben Nighthorse Campbell, Diane Feinstein, Joe Lieberman, Hillary Clinton, John Warner.
