This is purely anecdotal, but I've noticed that the number of people in favor of "pulling the plug" on Terri from various polls has been declining in the past week. Last week I was hearing low 70s, now I'm hearing mid-to-high 50s

I've also noticed a huge increase in search engine hits on Terri Schiavo and related information, as I'm sure other who've been posting on this subject have.

To me that means that people aren't satisfied with the information they're getting from the MSM (I'm getting sick of that acronym). They're going to wind up getting information from the "pro-pull" side as well as the "con-pull" side.

For whatever reason, it looks like more and more people are becoming convinced that Terri Schiavo should be allowed to live.

I think people are finding facts they were previously unaware of.

Thanks for you take on this Ace. I have followed this story for years because I am the father of a brain damaged son who is now nineteen and much loved. I do not want Terri killed because I know my son might be next. Her rights are being violated in that a feeding tube is just for caretaker conveinence in most cases and she has already proven that she can swallow food and water. I consider this a forced starvation and murder of an innocent person. I will fight that with every legal means I have and at the risk of being banned will say that if they eventually do come for my son there will be armed resistance.

Andrea - you're right, I'm really sick of both the left and right trying to use this woman's life as proof of or a tool for their right-to-life or right-to-die positions.

I don't consider myself pro-life and I support an individual's right-to-die wishes. If Terri had left written instructions, or if there was no dispute as to what she wanted I would say let her go. But not by starving her to death.

Alnot - I have yet to hear one person who has a loved one who is brain damaged or severely mentally handicapped say that they "wouldn't want to live" in Terri's condition.

There are a lot of things being said in the course of the debates on this issue that are insulting to a lot of mentally handicapped people.

Incidentally, I caught about 5 minutes of O'Reilly last night, and he (no surprise) was peddling the most ridiculous discredited BS about this case. Claiming that feeding her was a waste of taxpayer money (!) even... Newt wasn't on-the-ball enough to call him on this, either.

Not that he's been particularly immune to it (see his comments on various media scandals), but it shows the reach of MSM brainlock on this.

T Schiavo has been indigent since 2003. All her care since then - like most of the Alzheimers vegetatives, and all the fetal alcohol, crack preemies born to their crack whore mammies is all on the taxpayers dime.

O'Reilly recognizes this and has talked about the 26 Trillion unfunded mandate of Medicare and how that threatens to destroy the rest of America by pulling most funds towards elderly care.

Is society's highest priority - over education, military, infrastructure - prolonging the lives of the vegetative? BTW - Bush II was worried enough about this budget-busting as Gov in 1999, that he passed an end-stage law. Which responding to existing demands for unlimited advanced critical care funding, by the indigent, said that if the doctors concluded no chance of recovery exists, they can stop treatment with 10 days notice, to allow the crack momma to find some other facility to take her vegetative infant - otherwise the doctor can pull the plug no matter what the crack momma wants. The same Texas law made the spouse the automatic surrogate to block the court challenges that cost Texas millions when some estranged half-daughter or such objected to an end-of-life decision arrived at by the rest of the family. That was before George Bush found he had a magical credit card that allowed him to borrow unlimited money from foreign countries as President...as a Gov ...he was bound to balance the Texas Budget without France's banking ministry's help.

Once we start down that road, who is going to decide which members of society are expendable? Are we going to allow crack babies and the incurable elderly to die? Well, why stop there? Why bother with AIDS patients, or cancer patients for that matter? Why bother with the poor at all?

Once life becomes a matter of convenience for the majority, no one will be safe.
