Taranto: They Ain't MarriedYes, I know, I'm beating a dead horse. I suppose we'll soon have another corpse to beat. Still: According to news reports, Mr. Schiavo lives with a woman named Jodi Centonze, and they have two children together. Surely any court would consider this prima facie evidence of adultery. And this is no mere fling; a sympathetic 2003 profile in the Orlando Sentinel described Centonze as Mr. Schiavo's "fiancée." Mr. Schiavo, in other words, has virtually remarried. Short of outright bigamy, his relationship with Centonze is as thoroughgoing a violation of his marriage vows as it is possible to imagine. Politics Makes Whores of Us All Update: If the Republicans have been less than heroic on this issue, at least they have good reasons -- of the cynical sort -- for their cowardice. The public wants the tube yanked, to the extent they care at all, which they largely do not. I suppose Republicans deserve some small amount of praise for the late-in-the-game half-measures they've taken. Politicians are whores, and will always be so, and few have hearts of gold. Still, the whores at least tried, tenatively and half-heartedly, to do the right thing. Which is reason for light praise as far as whores go, I reckon. Thanks to KCTrio for the bad polling news. posted by Ace at 03:29 PM
CommentsAll this poll proves is that the MSM is great at spreading their picture of the facts -- something we've seen to amazing effect even here. It takes something like a presidential pushback to dent their BS. Still, Ace, I want to commend you for your efforts on this matter. Whatever the outcome, you've certainly done your utmost. Cold comfort, yeah, I know. Posted by: someone on March 22, 2005 03:49 PM
Hookers with a heart of gold, Ace. Posted by: Jack M. on March 22, 2005 03:59 PM
Ace, This is purely anecdotal, but I've noticed that the number of people in favor of "pulling the plug" on Terri from various polls has been declining in the past week. Last week I was hearing low 70s, now I'm hearing mid-to-high 50s I've also noticed a huge increase in search engine hits on Terri Schiavo and related information, as I'm sure other who've been posting on this subject have. To me that means that people aren't satisfied with the information they're getting from the MSM (I'm getting sick of that acronym). They're going to wind up getting information from the "pro-pull" side as well as the "con-pull" side. For whatever reason, it looks like more and more people are becoming convinced that Terri Schiavo should be allowed to live. I think people are finding facts they were previously unaware of. Posted by: John from WuzzaDem on March 22, 2005 04:00 PM
"the MSM (I'm getting sick of that acronym). " Yays! I'm not alone! Anyway -- yeah, I think this case has been mainly seen as a "oh those Catholics see the Virgin Mary in doughnuts" sort of thing, at least that's how it's been treated any time it was mentioned in the for-pay news*, and if you ask me that's how it's still being treated. *Of course I have trouble figuring out clever names to call them. Posted by: Andrea Harris on March 22, 2005 04:18 PM
Thanks for you take on this Ace. I have followed this story for years because I am the father of a brain damaged son who is now nineteen and much loved. I do not want Terri killed because I know my son might be next. Her rights are being violated in that a feeding tube is just for caretaker conveinence in most cases and she has already proven that she can swallow food and water. I consider this a forced starvation and murder of an innocent person. I will fight that with every legal means I have and at the risk of being banned will say that if they eventually do come for my son there will be armed resistance. Posted by: Alnot on March 22, 2005 04:19 PM
Andrea - you're right, I'm really sick of both the left and right trying to use this woman's life as proof of or a tool for their right-to-life or right-to-die positions. I don't consider myself pro-life and I support an individual's right-to-die wishes. If Terri had left written instructions, or if there was no dispute as to what she wanted I would say let her go. But not by starving her to death. Alnot - I have yet to hear one person who has a loved one who is brain damaged or severely mentally handicapped say that they "wouldn't want to live" in Terri's condition. There are a lot of things being said in the course of the debates on this issue that are insulting to a lot of mentally handicapped people. Posted by: John from WuzzaDem on March 22, 2005 04:48 PM
Incidentally, I caught about 5 minutes of O'Reilly last night, and he (no surprise) was peddling the most ridiculous discredited BS about this case. Claiming that feeding her was a waste of taxpayer money (!) even... Newt wasn't on-the-ball enough to call him on this, either. Not that he's been particularly immune to it (see his comments on various media scandals), but it shows the reach of MSM brainlock on this. Posted by: someone on March 22, 2005 05:02 PM
Its not just a "picture" of the facts, in this case the MSM is outright distorting. Take for example this grotesque display foisted off on the public in today's edition of "Pravda in Paradise" (aka, the Palm Beach Post): http://www.palmbeachpost.com/opinion/content/custom/blogs/editorial/archives/002203.html#more Some bloggers called them on the lies already: http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/cgi-bin/mt/mt-comments.cgi?entry_id=2203 Posted by: on March 22, 2005 07:30 PM
T Schiavo has been indigent since 2003. All her care since then - like most of the Alzheimers vegetatives, and all the fetal alcohol, crack preemies born to their crack whore mammies is all on the taxpayers dime. O'Reilly recognizes this and has talked about the 26 Trillion unfunded mandate of Medicare and how that threatens to destroy the rest of America by pulling most funds towards elderly care. O'Reilly is right. We cannot keep borrowing money from China forever. Needs are infinite, resources finite. Is society's highest priority - over education, military, infrastructure - prolonging the lives of the vegetative? Technology is there to add years onto vegetative Alzheimer's patients end stage disease - we could have 5-7 million Vegetatives costing the taxpayer 100,000 each year by 2015. Do we have 500-700 billion to spare? Care for new "Terri's Law" doubling the payroll tax so we can focus most of society's resources on life extension of vegetative patients?? Or do you think we can just borrow the money from China forever?? Or do you think the Right to Lifers...maybe 10% of the population...should mortgage what they own, sell it off if need be...and set up private care for the millions of vegetatives they advocate for in their Cult of Life at all costs?? If the Religious Right wants All Life to be prolonged at all costs.....well, shouldn't they foot the bill privately???

He's not a professor, I don't think. He's a Ph. D. candidate. Which, I guess, probably means he's almost certainly a TA, but probably not a prof. He's also... well. Let's just say it's not the first time I've heard of the man. Posted by: ace on March 22, 2005 07:59 PM

cederford: You are missing an important point: we are talking about the right to life of an individual. That right is G-D given, and cannot be reduced to a mater of what is convenient for the state. Once we start down that road, who is going to decide which members of society are expendable? Are we going to allow crack babies and the incurable elderly to die? Well, why stop there? Why bother with AIDS patients, or cancer patients for that matter? Why bother with the poor at all? Once life becomes a matter of convenience for the majority, no one will be safe. AS for balancing the budget, well that is whole topic in itself - I agree we need to and I agree we are borrowing far too much far too foolishly, but we do not have to starve a woman to death to do it. Remember, next time it could be your life being weighed in the balance, or mine. Posted by: BattleofthePyramids on March 22, 2005 10:14 PM
(commenter 6) This from the same "Bill O'Reilly" who promised to hold Alan Greenspan "accountable" and get to the bottom of his power and expose him 3 years ago? Why am I not shocked. Every once in awhile I send him an email asking him how his investigation of Greenspan's going. To Ace, I agree, Terri shouldn't be a partisan issue. Remember, the Democrats were split nearly down the middle in favor of the Schiavo Bill. Nice Blog. Posted by: GunTotingLib on March 22, 2005 10:35 PM
Battleofthe Pyramids sez: we are talking about the right to life of an individual. That right is G-D given, and cannot be reduced to a mater of what is convenient for the state. You are twisting natural law and the Constitution. There is no "right to life" in the law, nor is our society organized around keeping terminal or vegetative life around as long as possible, in banning anything that could shorten life, eliminating all sources of accidents - and specifying a communist-style reallocation of all national resources to life extension and spending what's left on other critical programs. Managers and leaders routinely make those calls on scarce dollars....shall we spend 110 million to improve a highway interchange knowing we could save one life a year otherwise lost in an accident there? No, too expensive, and we need the 110 million for city education funding and pension obligations... Shall we embark on an intensive effort to quintuple the end-stage period of total dementia in Alzheimers patients nationwide at a cost of 500-600 billion a year by 2025? No, that would be an insane misuse of taxpayer funds. There is no unlimited "right to life". There is no right to expect taxpayers to fund it. Posted by: Cedarford on March 22, 2005 10:49 PM
Cedarford* is one consistant S.O.B. I'll give him that. He hasn't yet gotten a single fact or issue related to this case correct. Terri Schiavo is NOT indigent. A huge sum of money was awarded for her care. The fact that her "guardian" chose to piss it away on non-care-related expenses would be held against her by only the lowest, slimiest bastard imaginable**. In addition, there is a long line of private donors waiting to pay for every conceivable expense related to her perpetual care, and then some. So, in summation, the last thing this argument needs is some dickwad*** twisting the facts and just plain making shit up, but evidently someone**** has decided to take that role on. *who, by the way, is a cocksucker. **who, coincidently, could very well be a cocksucker. ***who, a preponderance of evidence would indicate, is most likely a cocksucker. ****who, in addition to all his other faults, is most definitely a cocksucker. If you really want to see what a jerk Michael was go to my site and read the avidavit from one of the nurses who took care of Terri. (taken in 2003 long before this became the political circus it is) Posted by: Rightwingsparkle on March 22, 2005 11:11 PM
Dogstar - you seem to be a very intellectually obtuse individual (I'm trying to be nice). You say T Schiavo IS NOT INDIGENT!!! Since 2002, the taxpayer has picked up her care costs because she is indigent. Please wrestle with that in your mind. I believe she is not indigent, yet she has no money left and is in the hospices indigent care program. Yet I also believe that tons of wealthy Right to Lifers wish to shower the Hospice with dollars galore, though they haven't chipped in a nickel since Shiavo was destitute. Please tell me you don't honestly think your thought processes are crystal clear. You are a true believer, and from our last correspondence it is clear you don't wish to learn any facts that conflict with your beliefs. Posted by: Cedarford on March 23, 2005 12:27 AM
Well, Cedarjiz, if I stole all your fucking money, would you be considered "indigent"? Guess it's all in the semantics, eh? Posted by: Dogstar on March 23, 2005 12:29 AM
If the "public" were aware of the ABSOLUTE STENCH OF CORRUPTION that has been revealed in the latest entries at http://junkyardblog.net/ they would probably change their minds in a nanosecond. This case REEKS OF DECIEPT AND TREACHERY well beyond anything we ever imagined... Posted by: T on March 23, 2005 02:04 AM
Acey--thx for being here for us during this especially trying time. as for Cedarfart--Terri does not belong in a Hospice facility for the terminally ill at public expense. There is evidence that this was a contrivance by Atty G Felos to advance the right to die agenda, Posted by: on March 23, 2005 05:53 AM

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals. The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite. Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
