Unemployment Rate Hits New Record at 12.6%

...in Germany.

In related news, various German boy bands are recording new disco-themed versions of the Horst Wessel song.

Thanks to David for the correction. Horst Wessel, not "Wiesel." To be honest -- yeah, I know this is sorta bad -- I confused his last name with Eli Wiesel's.

And I'm sure I probably spelled that wrong, too.

Isn't this a repeat?

Not to worry. As a matter of economic history, low German numbers such as these are usually righted by several quarters of high defense exports to, say, Poland or France.

(ok, ok. low hanging fruit and all, but c'mon...)

I've heard 'em. The cowbell's way, way too far back in the mix.

On the other hand, they're full of integrity and racial conscious. The guys get brown shirts. That's just the fucking way it is.

If they banned David Hasslehoff and instituted Canadian style local content rules they'd turn their economy around in a jiffy.

At least for the boy bands.

To borrow an old joke from David Letterman (made upon the anouncement of Germany's re-unification) the French should probably start practicing blowing kisses while running backwards.

This is bad news. Very bad. The last time this many Germans sat around with nothing to do they inadvertantly killed 20 million people (give or take 10 million -- I'm not good with numbers).

Quick. Someone start up a German TVA. It's only a matter of time before they start about mincing (a la Martha Stewart) about "living space" and "Polish corridors."

Horst Wessel, Ace, you goon. Honestly, don't they teach anything in those schools these days?

Anyway, it's silly. What are the Jerries going to do? Remilitarize ze Rheinland? Yeah, you and who's army? The Krauts have lost their martial spirit, thank God. I'm more worried about the 9 million unassimilated North Africans in France than Germany's indolent masses.

Posted by: David Gillies on March 1, 2005 11:33 PM

I meant whose army, natch.

Posted by: David Gillies on March 1, 2005 11:55 PM

Maybe Ace meant Horst Weasel.

Posted by: Kevin on March 2, 2005 12:29 AM

Ace,

We be thinking bout the same thing.

Posted by: The Therapist on March 2, 2005 02:13 AM

how the hell is the euro doing so well against the dollar when germany it's largest economy has it's head so far up it's ass?

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.

Oof. Reviewers do not like Scary Movie 6. The criticism I keep hearing is that the movie mistakes a reference for an actual joke. The movie (they say) keeps Key Jangling a reference to another movie (or some other pop culture ephemera) and you expect there to be a joke but nope, the Key Jangle was the joke. Other reviewers say that the promise that "no lines will be uncrossed" is a fake-out, and that the movie is bland and inoffensively corporate.
