EASON JORDAN RESIGNS!

CNN chief news executive Eason Jordan quit Friday amidst a furor over remarks he made in Switzerland last month about journalists killed by the U.S. military in Iraq.
Jordan said he was quitting to avoid CNN being "unfairly tarnished" by the controversy.

During a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum last month, Jordan said he believed that several journalists who were killed by coalition forces in Iraq had been targeted.

Ramesh Ponnuru at NRO's Corner got the tip first.

Say what you want-- but a dozen Eason Jordans can never equal one Jeff Gannon.

Thanks for the huge decigannon tip (a "decigannon" tip is equal to one tenth the importance of a Jeff Gannon tip) to JimW, who just made my whole freakin' day.

A Plea to the Main Stream Media:

Sirs,

I realize now that has all spun wildly out of control.

It was fun to "get" Dan Rather. It's fun to "get" Eason Jordan.

But until Jeff Gannon fell -- a man who saved my life in Vietnam, and, in a way, saved all of our lives just by the simple grace of his existence -- I didn't realize how hurtful and small-minded all of this was.

Sirs-- my Media Overlords -- I implore you, let us end this savagery and madness before another good man goes down.

And yes: speaking as high-ranking member of the Digital Brownshirts, I am authorized to suggest a trade.

You get to keep Dan Rather and Eason Jordan. We will never speak of their incompetence and/or hatred of America again.

Just give us Jeff Gannon back. Do us this one act of merciful charity and we can go back to the way it used to be, where you pretended to report the news and we pretended to believe you.

Please. Please, give us back our Jeff Gannon.

Rather and Eason for Gannon? I think not. Gannon must be considered collateral damage, but the left's loss of their bigwigs leaves them realing.

Look soon for a conference of the remaining bigwigs looking for ways to relate to the values of the neocons. Of course, their "values" have nothing at all to do with such simple things as honesty, credibility, faith, purity, love of country, or anything else immutable and unchanging. So why does the left call them values? They certainly don't value them.

Gannon is our Hector. Fallen in the heat of battle and mistreated by our enemies. But from his falling and mistreatment, we now have their Achilles (more like their Agamemnon, really).

Eason is deposed! Let us honor the Gannon for his sacrifice.

Hmm. I Guess I'm in the minority, but I don't like the fact that he quit. By being a martyr and falling on his sword for CNN, he's set himself up to never really have to face the charges. Now the moonbats can claim it never really happened and it was all because of the right-wing-meanies that a fine journalist took one for the team. Davos will feel no pressure to release the tape now that he's gone. Not the best outcome IMHO.

Who cares? A wins a win. Being upset about Jordan quitting before he gets fired is like being upset that you have to get a girl drunk before you can get any. Heck this might be even better- no next morning explanations or warrants for our arrest.

STARMERGEDDON: In early returns, Reform gains 135 seats, Labour loses 90, the Fake Conservatives lose 36 (and I didn't even know they could fall any further), the Lib Dems lose 4, and the Greens gain 6. Note that the only other party gaining seats is the Greens and they're only gaining a handful of seats.

If understand this right (and warning, I probably don't), all of London's council seats are up for election, and Labour might lose hugely there, as their old voters abandon them for Reform, Muslim Indenpendents, and the Greens.
