Civil Rights Activist Convicted of "Aiding" "Terrorists"

Whoops, I forgot I don't work for Reuters. Let's try that headline again.

"Civil Rights" "Activist" Convicted of Aiding Terrorists

Much better that way, I think:

NEW YORK (AP) -- A veteran civil rights lawyer was convicted Thursday of crossing the line by smuggling messages of violence from one of her jailed clients -- a radical Egyptian sheik -- to his terrorist disciples on the outside.

The jury had deliberated 13 days over the past month before convicting Lynne Stewart, 65, a firebrand, left-wing activist known for representing radicals and revolutionaries in her 30 years on the New York legal scene.

Stewart faces up to 20 years in prison on charges that include conspiracy, giving material support to terrorists and defrauding the U.S. government.

Minutes before the verdict was read, Stewart said she felt ``nervous. I'm scared, worried.'' When she heard the pronouncement, Stewart began shaking her head and wiping her eyes. The courtroom was filled with her supporters, who gasped. She will remain free on bail, but must stay in New York, until her July 15 sentencing.

The trial focused attention on the line between zealous advocacy and criminal behavior by a lawyer. Some defense lawyers saw the case as a government warning to attorneys to tread carefully in terrorism cases.

Ummm, tread carefully, New York Times? It's a simple rule: Don't illegally smuggle messages from one terrorist to another.

It's not exactly a rule fraught with vagueness, you stupid silly assholes.

Stewart was the lawyer for Omar Abdel-Rahman, a blind sheik sentenced to life in prison in 1996 for conspiring to assassinate Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and destroy several New York landmarks, including the U.N. building and the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels. Stewart's co-defendants also had close ties to Abdel-Rahman.

Prosecutors said Stewart and the others carried messages between the sheik and senior members of a Egyptian-based terrorist organization, helping spread Abdel-Rahman's venomous call to kill those who did not subscribe to his extremist interpretation of Islamic law.

What a peach.

And yet there are those who maintain there's no Fifth Column of anti-American, terrorist-sympathizing traitors in this country. Everyone is free to form their own "allegiances of conscience."

The hell with that. Lock this ugly whore away for the maximum. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Thanks to See-Dubya.

Ward Churchill Update: From later in the report:

But she also testified that she believed violence was sometimes necessary to achieve justice: "To rid ourselves of the entrenched, voracious type of capitalism that is in this country that perpetuates sexism and racism, I don't think that can come nonviolently."

Ms. Stewart, you're about to go to a place where getting that third helping of pudding won't come nonviolently, either, you horrid evil cow.

I think she did it on purpose, hoping to get sent to Gitmo or Abu Grahib for some of that hot terrorist-on-terrorist dogpile action.

My favorite part is when Ace starts slinging the insults around.
Seriously.

Will it be starchy, dismissive 'good riddance to bad rubbish'?
Or will it be the cutting-edge slur 'Islamoretard'?

I won't tell you the one that made me laugh out loud.

Posted by: horrid evil cow on February 10, 2005 05:34 PM

wouldn't it have been great if they could have gotton Martin Luthur King Jr. on something like that, then we wouldn't have all these problems in the inner cities with crack heads and stuff

I love your blog and keep fighting against civil rights

Sore loser, Trent?

Posted by: See-dubya on February 10, 2005 06:03 PM

Jesus, this female has fans. Charming.

Posted by: Andrea Harris on February 10, 2005 06:12 PM

The courtroom was filled with her supporters, who gasped.

At least they didn't simultaneously detonate their semtex vests. That would be, you know, tacky.

Posted by: Sean M. on February 10, 2005 06:15 PM

"That third helping of pudding . . ."

LOL

Shit, ace, she need at least fifths to keep that ass in shape.

Best part was that the jihadis hated her guts and used her all the same. She was convicted of participating in mock "consultations" in which she pretended to ask questions and then teh translator (a terrorist messenger) would recieve instruction from the good "sheik."

They treated her as the superfluous bag of fat shit that she is.

Posted by: hobgoblin on February 10, 2005 06:48 PM

Horrid evil cow? Ace, you were too kind.

Posted by: The Old Coot on February 10, 2005 07:27 PM

I'm willing the bet $10 that her liberal "patriotic" supporters help her flee the country.

Posted by: Xoxotl on February 10, 2005 07:56 PM

"Trent" -- Rest assured, your civil rights to make unpunctuated, ungrammatical and feco-cortical non sequiturs are safe for the time being.

Posted by: Alex on February 10, 2005 08:09 PM

I just cant wait to see the episode of OZ where this fat skank gets to meet her new cell mate.

Posted by: Marty on February 10, 2005 08:26 PM

I doubt her liberal friends will help her, they will love to be able to bitch about a thoughfull, progressive-minded fellow traveller being persecuted by the Bush administration for her beliefs. I also think she will initially reject any offers of help, she will just LOVE being the martyr for a while. Until the reality of her situation sinks in.

Posted by: Marty on February 10, 2005 08:33 PM

OZ hell; I'm waiting for the next episode of the Martha Stewart Chronicles on PW.

Posted by: Alex on February 10, 2005 08:37 PM

If they assign the cells alphabetically, she might get Martha Stewart as her cellmate. There's an odd couple for you.

In fact I'll bet Protein Wisdom is already considering all the delicious possibilities.

Posted by: See-Dubya on February 10, 2005 08:37 PM

I know it's the Times and I'm wasting my breath even mentioning this, but... their article says that "Prosecutors said Steward and the others carried messages between the sheik and senior members of a Egyptian-based terrorist organizatiion." That sentence carries the exact same weight as claiming the act was a mere allegation. She was CONVICTED. The prosecutors didn't just say that she committed such treasonous acts, the jury decided beyond a reasonable doubt that she did in fact commit such acts.

Simply disgusting.

Posted by: NJRob on February 10, 2005 08:45 PM

Oh Martha would slice her fat-ass open in a heartbeat. I bet martha is sharpening up a toothbrush as we speak. Martha will not "BE COOL" with some fat stinking hippy carcus lounging around her perfectly decorated prison cell. I mean honestly people, look at that damn purse and ratty -ass muffler, she deserves a shiv to the spleen , just for that horrid outfit. She must have been in the throws af a bad stress-induced acid flashback when she selected that outfit. Well that outfit was not so much "selected" as stolen out of a homeless persons dirty clothes hamper after some miserable "march" on washington or some such nonsense.

Posted by: Marty on February 10, 2005 08:49 PM

Well, since it's her first offense (or at least, first felony conviction for aiding and abetting terrorism and trying to overthrow the government of the United States by force and violence), perhaps we should just let her off with a crucifixion:)

She'll be free until her July 15th sentencing.

Could we?

1. Encourage her to flee to Fallujah, and issue the Marines some big game sniper rifles?

2. Admit to bin Laden that we Americans do have a grudging respect for his eluding the greatest manhunt in history. And we want to send him a token gift. A suitable 9th bride, to show we care?

3. At least make Lynne Stewart wear a Burqua until she is safely behind bars?

It gets even worse...the NYT printed a pathetic piece cannonizing this tango-aiding bitch who can't tell the difference between defending slime and aiding the slime to continue ongoing slimely actions.

http://www.lynnestewart.org/

I hope you have a strong stomach, there are several pictures of the hideous greasy-hair, dowdy . monsterous lump of human waste. God, there are even support letters from other sicko hippy assholes.

Just by her picture you can tell she's a member of Traitors Without Borders.

Posted by: Luciferous on February 11, 2005 01:26 PM

Check out this quote

SD: Let’s say you were part of a government that you actually trusted and supported, and your country held political prisoners. At what point would you think monitoring and controlling these people was acceptable?
LS: I’m such a strange amalgam of old-line things and new-line things. I don’t have any problem with Mao or Stalin or the Vietnamese leaders or certainly Fidel locking up people they see as dangerous. Because so often, dissidence has been used by the greater powers to undermine a people’s revolution. The CIA pays a thousand people and cuts them loose, and they will undermine any revolution in the name of freedom of speech.

"It's f**king f**ked."
-- reportedly a genuine comment offered by a "senior Labour source"
Correction: I wrote that Labour is losing 88% (now 87%) of the seats it is "defending." I think that's wrong. The right way to say it is the seats they are contesting -- that is, they don't necessarily already hold these seats, but they have put up a candidate to run for the seat. It's still very bad but not as bad as losing 87% of the seats they already held.

🚨ED MILIBAND [a Minister in Starmer's government] SAYS KEIR STARMER WILL RESIGN AS PRIME MINISTER

He has reportedly reassured Labour MP's that Starmer will be resigning following the disastrous results tonight

It's over
"The end of the two party system in the UK" as first the Fake Conservatives and now Labour chooses political suicide rather than simply STOPPING THE INVASION
Incidentally, the only reason this didn't already happen in the US is because of the Very Bad Orange Man (who is right on 85% of all policy calls and extremely, existentially right on 15% of them)
No political party that is NOT also a doomsday religious cult would EVER choose a cataclysmic loss -- and possible extinction as a party -- to support a toxically unpopular favoritism of NON-CITIZEN ILLEGAL MIGRANTS over actual citizen voters.

Only a cult does this.
Now they've lost 84%.
Annunziata Rees-Mogg
@zatzi
If this continues Labour loses 2,148 seats tonight.

That is much worse than the worst case predictions I’ve seen.

Cataclysmic

Update: They've now lost 88% of the seats they're defending. As I mentioned earlier, I think I heard that London will not bail them out, as many of those Labour seats will probably flip to "Muslim Independent" or Green. Detroit's 5am vote will not save them.
Yup, Labour is losing 80% of its seats...
The British Patriot
@TheBritLad

🚨 BREAKING: Labour have lost 80% of all seats contested as of 2:25 AM.<
br> If this continues, Keir Starmer will be out of office next week.

Reform has surged and projected to pick up between 1700-2100 seats.

Wow, up to 1700-2100 seats. It's not incredible that this is happening. It's incredible that the Davos crowd is so absolutely determined to privilege Muslim "migrants" over the actual native population who elects them, no matter how loudly the natives scream that they want to be prioritized, that they will gladly self-extinguish as a party rather than simply representing the interests of their own voters. Astonishing.
Remember, when they call other people "cultists" -- they are the ones so imprisoned in their social reinforcement and discipline bubbles that they will choose political death rather than dare upset the Karen Enforcement Officers of their cult.
Update: Now they've lost 83% of the seats they were defending.
(((Dan Hodges)))
@DPJHodges

Reform are basically wiping Labour out in the North. It's not a defeat. It's not even a rout. Labour are simply ceasing to exist.

Nick Lowles
@lowles_nick

Tonight’s results are calamitous for Labour. Not just for Keir Starmer's leadership, but for the very future of the party
STARMERGEDDON: In early returns, Reform gains 135 seats, Labour loses 90, the Fake Conservatives lose 36 (and I didn't even know they could fall any further), the Lib Dems lose 4, and the Greens gain 6. Note that the only other party gaining seats is the Greens and they're only gaining a handful of seats.
Update: Reform now up 145, Labour down 98.
Labour projected to lose Wales -- where they've ruled for 27 years.
Fulton County Georgia just discovered 400 boxes of ballots for Labour
Update: REF +156, LAB -107, CON -45
Brutal: In four out of five council seats where Labour is defending, they've lost. 80%.
I'm sure it's not this simple, but Reform is straight taking Labour's and the "Conservatives'" seats. They've lost almost exactly what Reform gained. If understand this right (and warning, I probably don't), all of London's council seats are up for election, and Labour might lose hugely there, as their old voters abandon them for Reform, Muslim Indenpendents, and the Greens.
REF +190, LAB -134, CON -56.
Updates on the Labour collapse in council elections -- which wags are calling #Starmergeddon -- from Beege Welborne. There are about 5000 seats up for grabs, Labour is expected to lose 1,800, Reform will probably gain 1,580, up from... zero. So this would be more than that.
People claim that while Labour has adopted the Sharia Agenda to appeal to the million Muslims it allowed to migrate to the country, those voters are ditching Labour to vote for the Muslim Independent Party or the Greens. Delicious. This shadenfreude is going straight to my thighs.
Oh, and if Starmer loses about as badly as expected, Labour will toss him out of a window Braveheart style and replace him. He will announce he is resigning to spend more time with his Gay Ukrainian Male Prostitutes.
Media bias and senationalism are as old as, well, the media:
spidermanthreatormenace.jpg

That was written by Denny O'Neill and illustrated by, get this, Frank Miller. Editor to the Stars Jim Shooter was in charge at the time.
I always thought the gag was original to the comic book, but in fact the "Threat or Menace" headline was a satirical joke about media bias and sensationalism for a long while. The Harvard Lampoon used it in a parody of Life magazine: "Flying Saucers: Threat or Menace?"
