It's (Almost) Official: Bush Posts Job Gains in First TermAnalysts expect 190,000 jobs created in January... let's hope we beat expectataions. (No cowbell and/or Vinny Falcone for analysts' consensus estimates... need real numbers for such a display.) posted by Ace at 05:54 PM
CommentsI can survive sans cowbell for a little while longer, but you better have the bronze bomber ready to ring when these numbers come out. Fingers crossed. . . Cheers, Posted by: Dave at Garfield Ridge on February 3, 2005 07:55 PM

While we're on the subject, it can now be reported that the Democrats currently hold the lowest number of House and Senate seats since the Hoover Administration! Posted by: robert on February 4, 2005 07:46 AM
Just short at 146k. Still very respectable--the UR is now 5.2%. Credit the Fed--they're playing this like a fiddle. They refuse to release the reins for fear of higher interest rates. Higher rates would bust the housing bubble--if it exists--and take us right back where we started. This is the perfect scenario--a growing economy with plentiful jobs and low rates, giving the economy a chance to catch up to inflated housing prices. There's a reason why Greenspan has kept his job this long. The Chairman slices, baby. Posted by: spongeworthy on February 4, 2005 09:19 AM
The whole "lost jobs" line of crap is a line of crap. How can lower unemployment without a corresponding loss of population in any way mean that there has been a loss of jobs? There are two reports, one household report, that actually asks people if they're working, and another that asks businesses how many people they have working for them. The problem is that any new businesses (started in the last two years) or any people that started their own business do not get asked by the business poll. We're looking at the losses from the dotcom bubble bursting and other problems and assuming that those people haven't found work. You have to take into account the number of new businesses that do not have large enough employee numbers for the business poll. Bush has been ahead on jobs for quite a while, but MSM isn't about to admit it. Posted by: Bullwinkle on February 4, 2005 10:02 AM
Count me as one of the 'undercounted', I suppose. I resigned my comfortable corporate job last March and went out on my own. Life is good; I work every day, but I am not 'employed'. From my very informal observations, I think there are a lot of folks like me out there. So much for relying on the HR statistics. Posted by: Dave on February 4, 2005 10:20 AM
Just on the off chance that anyone was interested in following the link to my business URL from that last post, this (shameless plug) post has the correct one. Posted by: Dave on February 4, 2005 10:22 AM
Hey Dangerous Dave, that new pik on your website looks like a CD cover - very cool. Are you secretly a rock star? Posted by: 72WIVES on February 4, 2005 10:58 AM
The Bureau of Labor Statistics measured total employment in January 2001 at 137.9 million. Total employment, January 2005: 140.2 million. 2.3 million new jobs since GW took office. In the wake of an inherited recession, ArthurAnderson-inflated bookeeping, and terrorist attacks that hammered airlines and tourism, George Bush deserves credit for growing the economy and increasing employment. No doubt the appropriate hosannas will be splashed across the MSM. Posted by: lyle on February 4, 2005 11:24 AM
Give up the cowbell, ya bastard! Posted by: Monty on February 4, 2005 01:41 PM
If we can stablize Iraq and get the price of oil down we will have a real sustainable boom in the future, otherwise we won't. But for the moment its time for the cowbell guy! THE RIGHT MUST BOYCOTT!!! Posted by: 72VIRGINS on February 4, 2005 01:44 PM

The Payroll Survey numbers have been wrong for about 7 years. It is mathematically impossible for unemployment to be at 5.2% without the jobs from the Household Survey. Posted by: TallDave on February 4, 2005 02:53 PM

ANOTHER LEFT WING ASSASSIN ATTEMPTS TO KILL TRUMP
If I understand this, the left-wing Democrat assassin attempted to get into the White House Correspondents Association dinner, and was stopped at the magnetometers, which detected his gun. I guess he pulled out the gun and was shot by Secret Service agents. Erika Kirk was present.

Important Message from Recent Convert to Christianity and Yet Super-Serious Christian Tuq'r Qarlson: Actually Muslims love Jesus, it's Trump and his neocons who hate him
Tucker Carlson Network Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this. He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again. You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card.
People say that the bearded man in the video of Fartwell molesting a hooker looks like Democrat Arizona Senator Rueben Gallego, said to be Swalwell's "best friend" and known to take vacations with him.
@KFILE 21m So the campaign is collapsing due to the truth of the sexual harassment allegations. That hissing sound you hear is the air going out of the Swalwell campaign. UPDATE: No it wasn't, it was just Swalwell one-cheek-sneaking out a fart on camera Eric Swalwell more like Eric Farewell amirite thanks to weft-cut loop.
