I Hate To Do This To You All, But. . . [Dave At Garfield Ridge]

Either this is an ad, or it's for real.

I'm pretty sure it's an ad. If so, I apologize for wasting your time.

If it's for real, well, you must understand, I can't take any chances.

Because the Superbowl is in *nine* days, and I guarantee you I ain't missing the game on account of some crazy-hairy demonic dripping well-tart.

That was in very bad taste. Maybe it is an ad. Maybe it is some kid having fun with a website. But I don't fine chain letters and chain web sites to be amusing.

Next time, resist the temptation to pass it on.

Thanks, now where am I supposed to get term life?

Posted by: ace's friend on January 28, 2005 12:54 AM

That's from the movie "The Ring".

If you haven't seen it, I *highly* recommend it. It's the best "scary movie" in a long time, in my opinion.

Posted by: Dave on January 28, 2005 01:05 AM

Hugh, meet Dave. Dave, meet Hugh.

You two can discuss the implications of what I posted.

Me, I'm just covering my bases. I've got money on the coin toss I plan to earn.

Posted by: Dave at Garfield Ridge on January 28, 2005 01:11 AM

Actually, it's probably a promotion for the sequel to The Ring, which is supposed to come out sometime this year.

Posted by: Sean M. on January 28, 2005 04:32 AM

Yup, it's the sequel all right. There is a Dreamworks reference at the bottom of the screen, and if you follow the link mentioned on the site, you go to an alleged site of a person who is tracking the events of the days since she has seen "the tape". Sort of like all the self-generated web "hype" the film makers did before Blair Witch Project.

Apparently the cause of death will be boredom.

Posted by: Eric Pobirs on January 28, 2005 07:23 AM

Even the banner at the top of the follow-on page says "Rings".

Posted by: Steve L. on January 28, 2005 08:36 AM

I watched it a second time but in reverse, so I should be ok, right?

Posted by: Ranger on January 28, 2005 09:16 AM

Apparently, sarcasm is a lost art.

I'm a big fan of the original-- well, Amercian remake of the original-- Ring. I saw this little bit of viral marketing for the sequel, thought it was neat, and I made a joke.

A joke which obviously wasn't too funny to begin with, and now has aquired "negative funny" because I have to explain to everyone that I was fully aware of what I was posting.

In the future, I will refrain from being sarcastic.

Damn, there I go again.

Cheers,
Dave at Garfield Ridge

P.S. Ranger, I don't know what to tell you. Perhaps this means you'll live seven *more* days than everyone else?

Posted by: Dave at Garfield Ridge on January 28, 2005 11:22 AM

I'm with Hugh. Pretty lowbrow, even for this site, to propogate a chain letter type scheme.

Unless the teaser is something Ace wrote. Then I s'pose it falls under the realm of "shameless self-promotion"... which is just about par for this website. ;)

Important Message from Recent Convert to Christianity and Yet Super-Serious Christian Tuq'r Qarlson: Actually Muslims love Jesus, it's Trump and his neocons who hate him
Tucker Carlson Network
@TCNetwork

The people in charge [Jews, of course -- ace] don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus.

Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity.

Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this.
He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again.
You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card.

Politico is reporting that multiple people have abruptly resigned from Eric Swalwell's gubernatorial campaign: "Members of senior leadership have departed the campaign, including Courtni Pugh, a strategic adviser who served as Swalwell's top liaison to organized labor groups."

So the campaign is collapsing due to the truth of the sexual harassment allegations.
That hissing sound you hear is the air going out of the Swalwell campaign. UPDATE: No it wasn't, it was just Swalwell one-cheek-sneaking out a fart on camera

I wouldn't click on it, it's not interesting, it's just stupid clickslop. I just want to share my annoyance with you.
Oil prices plunge on bizarre realization that Eric Swalwell may actually be straight. A rapey molester, allegedly, but a straight one.

This is super-obscure and I only barely remember it. Given that, I'll give you the hint that it's by the Red Rocker.
And I guess you think you've got it made
Oh, but then, you never were afraid
Of anything that you've left behind
Oh, but it's alright with me now
'Cause I'll get back up somehow
And with a little luck, yes, I'm bound to win

Now twenty people will tell me it's not obscure, it was huge in their hometown and played at their prom. That's how it usually goes. When I linked Donnie Iris's "Love is Like a Rock," everyone said they knew that one and that his other song (which I didn't know at all) Ah Leah! was huge in their area.
