Elephants Pitch In to Clear Tsunami DamageBANG NIENG, Thailand A year ago, they were filming battle scenes for the movie "Alexander." Now six elephants are pitching in to help with the massive cleanup from the tsunami that devastated many of Thailand's prime tourist destinations.

CommentsThat picture reminds me of a story of Kipling's I read once back in The Day, Toomai of the Elephants. Not that it has a whole lot to do with tsunamis, but the story did feature work elephants prominently. Posted by: Alex on January 3, 2005 03:17 PM
Hmm, from one disaster to another. Posted by: Sarah on January 3, 2005 03:27 PM
Ace, awesome find. How cool is using elephants? (and even riding them?) Amid all the tragedy, there are a few things that can still make one smile. I've always liked elephants, sorry. Posted by: hobgoblin on January 3, 2005 03:33 PM
I like bears. If they could get bears to pitch in (how, I don't know), then that would be truly awesome. Posted by: ace on January 3, 2005 04:05 PM
Yo ACE! How do you keep up with all the news and keep blogging? It seems like an awful lot of work to do AND still be funny - quite a trick. Other blogs may have greater exposure but no one seems to equal the ACE in sheer volume of output and thought. (Needless to say I'm thinking of starting my own blog.) How many hours a day do you spend at it? Posted by: 72VIRGINS on January 3, 2005 04:10 PM
Hmmm. Maybe the U.S. Special Forces could parachute a few more elephants in to help? Maybe Danny Glover too while they're at it? Oh, and Ace-- don't let Sully hear that you like bears; you might gain a new friend for the New Year. Cheers, Posted by: Dave at Garfield Ridge on January 3, 2005 04:35 PM
More fun elephant facts: It is the dream of every rural male Thai to own a elephant. The cost of an elephant in Thailand is equivalent to the cost of a average house in the US. The elephant will live longer than the owner so that if a man can buy one, he has income for life. If you are ever in northern Thailand, visit an elephant training school. You will see elephants that a have amazing working skills. Also take an elephant day trip into the Jungle. Posted by: Jake on January 3, 2005 07:11 PM
"...Angelina Jolie was riding me like Big Wheel" Lets be honest. I've had dreams like this. Posted by: BrewFan on January 3, 2005 08:00 PM

Socialist usurper Obama cut commercials urging Virginians to vote for the bizarre "lobster" gerrymander -- but now says gerrymanders are so racist you guys Obama is complaining about the new Louisiana map -- but here's the thing, the new map has much more compact and rational borders than the old racial gerrymander map Pete Bootyjudge is whining too. But here's the Illinois gerrymander he supports.
Big Bonus! Under the new Florida congressional map, Debbie Wasserman Schultz will probably lose her seat

ANOTHER LEFT WING ASSASSIN ATTEMPTS TO KILL TRUMP
If I understand this, the left-wing Democrat assassin attempted to get into the White House Correspondents Association dinner, and was stopped at the magnetometers, which detected his gun. I guess he pulled out the gun and was shot by Secret Service agents. Erika Kirk was present.

Important Message from Recent Convert to Christianity and Yet Super-Serious Christian Tuq'r Qarlson: Actually Muslims love Jesus, it's Trump and his neocons who hate him
Tucker Carlson Network Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this. He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again. You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card. Recent Comments
