Former Domestic Terrorist Teaching at John Jay School of (Wait For It) Criminal Justice

Teach... your children well... :

CLINTON, New York (AP) -- A former leftist radical who spent 16 years in prison for possessing explosives has withdrawn from teaching a college seminar after her hiring sparked protests.

Susan Rosenberg made her decision because it was in the best interest of all parties, Hamilton College officials said Wednesday.

In response to her hiring, prospective students withdrew applications and donors rescinded hundreds of thousands of dollars in pledges, school officials said.

...

Rosenberg, who began her activism in the 1970s, was indicted in a 1981 armored car robbery carried out by a gang of radicals. A guard and two Nyack police officers were killed in a shootout. Rosenberg denied involvement in the robbery, and the charges eventually were dropped.

She was convicted in 1984 of weapons possession. Prosecutors said she had more than 600 pounds of explosives that she and another defendant had planned to use in "non-lethal" bombings.

Since Rosenberg's 58-year prison sentence was commuted in 2001 by President Clinton, she has worked as a writer and an activist for human rights, prisoner rights and AIDS. She teaches literature at John Jay School of Criminal Justice in New York.

But, understand, a conservative professor is too controversial and too outside the academic mainstream to be hired:

The latest example comes from the hiring of famed international law professor Jack Goldsmith at Harvard law School. Although Goldsmith was hired, his liberal opponents not only went public with their opposition, but also are continuing to try to get him fired. This is an almost unheard of breach of academic courtesy.

...

So why are the liberals, including three of the five international law specialists at Harvard, opposing him? Not because he is incompetent, but because they don't like what he thinks. It is the worst sort of McCarthyism; but, of course, that's precisely what the academic left is best at. And all of Chait's obfuscation can't change that basic fact.

I've got a suggestion for Professor Goldsmith: obtain 600 pounds of explosives for use in "non-lethal" bombing, and then be peripherally involved in an armed robbery resulting in the deaths of two men.

And then it's tenure for life, baby.

Thanks to JohnG. for the tip about Rosenberg, and Instapundit for the Goldsmith tip.

Update: She's been forced out of her gig at John Jay, too.

As she should be.

Just curious: Would a rapist or child molestor be allowed to teach children at colleges? Even if he thought he had "good reasons" for committing his crimes 20 years ago?

I don't believe he would be.

It's difficult to take the left's claims about being tough on terrorism seriously when they are forever making excuses for, and giving cushy high-paying jobs to, former terrorists.

Thanks to JMGalvin again for the update. I guess he doesn't mind using his full name.

is this the same bitch that was on the lam for almost two decades before they caught her?

Is she related to Julius or Ethel?

Finally, can we disqualify her from academia just for the simple fact that she is unqualified ---- without even venturing into her leftist/terrorist/bullshit ties?

sonofnixon,

I think you're thinking of Sara Olson/Kathleen Soliah. She's in jail, and hopefully will be until she dies.

Same double standard applies to cartoonists. How many newspapers carry Doonesberry as opposed to Mallard Fillmore. Violent liberals are excused as intellectual revolutionaries while a conservative who speaks his mind is regarded as an inexcusable redneck racist. You can find the same double standard in almost any walk of life.

John Jay had to can her (as of Friday). It seems that the AP story mentioning her employment at John Jay aroused various Patrolman’s Benevolent Associations (police unions) to go ballistic. Per the Daily News: “Once Rosenberg finishes teaching a course at John Jay this month, her contract will not be renewed, said Jeremy Travis, who became college president in August.”

Ironically, Travis used to be a Deputy Commissioner of the New York Police Dept.

Of course, she had been employed there since 2002, and only got canned when it became public. Had it not been for the blowup over the Hamilton College job, she’d still be teaching at the John Jay College of CRIMINAL JUSTICE. For those of you who don’t know, John Jay is part of the City University of New York; so you had tax dollars being spent to employ her. Hers’ a link to the Daily News story: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/local/story/260787p-223337c.html

Considering that her sentence was commuted by Bubba, it would not have helped Hillary’s standing as our wonderful senator. She runs around telling everyone how NY needs more money from Homeland Security (to guard against terrorism) while a convicted terrorist is employed BY New York City.

It gets better. According to yesterday’s NY Daily News; “Since her release in 2001 - after her 58-year prison sentence was commuted by President Bill Clinton - she has worked as director of publications and communications at the American Jewish World Service.”

Here is a link to this outfit’s website showing her position. http://www.ajws.org/index.cfm?section_id=2&sub_section_id=1&page_id=175

I don’t know if this outfit has ever said anything about Palestinian terrorists blowing up Israeli people, but it seems imbecilic that they would employ a convicted terrorist who was caught with 600 lbs. of explosives. Seems that this outfit deems it perfectly acceptable to employ a convicted leftist American terrorist (involved in the murder of 2 cops during an armored car robbery).

The president of this outfit, Ruth Messinger, used to be a typical New York City ultra liberal Democrat politico from Mew York’s infamously ultra liberal upper west side.

Whoever hired this felon activist should be fired.

This is hardly surprising. After all, Bernadette (aka Bernadine) Dohrn, one of the Weathermen leaders, is a law professor at Northwestern.

The NYT did a lovely, soft-focus feature on her and her unrepentant terrorist husband Bill Ayers, University of Illinois , Chicago campus. It ran on Sept. 11, 2001.

Here's David Horowitz' takedown of them.

She's STILL Director of Education & Communications at the American Jewish World Service.

Guess American terrorist who kill cops are just peachy-keen as far as this outfit goes.

Link regarding Goldsmith doesn't seem to be functional.

Gotta wonder why Clinton pardoned Rosenberg. Was there some sort of palm-greasing going on, ala Mark Rich? Politically inept radical sentimentality?

I am an adjunct at John Jay, where Susan Rosenberg had been teaching, and I assure you that being an adjunct at the City University of NY is neither "cushy" nor "high-paying." It is one of the most exciting, challenging and intellectually stimulating jobs you can have, despite being an incredibly insecure employment situation. The tragedy of this situation is the unthinking reaction of police to a situation they likely barely understand, as well as the cowardice of university administrators in the face of such reactionary pressure. As we hold police to a higher standard, and as we depend on them to make life-changing decisions in a moment's notice, we should expect more than emotional over-reactions.

ANOTHER LEFT WING ASSASSIN ATTEMPTS TO KILL TRUMP

Important Message from Recent Convert to Christianity and Yet Super-Serious Christian Tuq'r Qarlson: Actually Muslims love Jesus, it's Trump and his neocons who hate him
Tucker Carlson Network
@TCNetwork

The people in charge [Jews, of course -- ace] don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus.

Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity.

Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this.
He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again.
You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card.
