Keith Olbermann Spins Right-Wing Dirty Trick Theory Regarding Memos

As you probably know, the liberal media spun a conspiracy theory based on the fact that "Buckhead" wrote his famous "post 47" at a time-stamp of 8:59 on Wednesday -- suspicious, NPR thought, because Dan Rather's broadcast had only ended at 9:00PM.

How on earth could someone already have so thoroughly debunked a report within moments of its broadcast? Perhaps "Buckhead" was really Karl Rove. Maybe he was even Chuck Colson.

Of course, the enlightened geniuses failed to keep in mind that there are, get this, several time zones in America-- four of them, in fact -- and that FR is hosted from the Pacific zone. Dan Rather's report ended at 9:00PM, Eastern; Bukhead posted at 8:59PM, Pacific -- better known as 11:59PM, just before midnight, by New Yorkers and other east-coasters.

Well, Keith Olbermann, who's not only not-funny but also not-bright, picked up on this conspiracy theory, even though the original premise supporting it had already been debunked. The Not-Funny Nitwit decided that, even though Buckhead had had hours to critique the piece, it was all still "suspicious" enough to begin blaming Republicans anyway.

I expect he'll be making a forthright retraction.

Any. Minute. Now.

Allah corrects me; he says that Keith Olbermann said the posting had been made "within two hours" of the broadcast. So he didn't actually make NPR's goof.

But this seems worse to me, actually. First of all, he didn't get the time right-- the post came within three, not two, hours of the end of the broadcast.

Second, he doesn't even have NPR's boneheaded time-stamp error to justify making such a serious charge of political conspiracy. He is claiming that if someone knocks down a transparent media-perpretrated forgery within two (actually three plus) hours, that means that Republican dirty-tricksters are behind the forgeries.

Is this bias?

Have you ever heard Keith Fucking Olbermann making such a serious charge against Democrats with absolutely no evidence whatsoever?

He said last night on his show that Buckhead's post was up "within two hours" of the end of the broadcast.

That does sound like suspicious timing. Why, two hours by Pony Express would hardly have gotten it from CBS Studios to Philadelphia, let ALONE anywhere with a West Coast timestamp!

Posted by: Brian B on September 14, 2004 04:08 PM

The real question is when the PDF files became available for download. West Coaster didn't have to see the local broadcast to know something was wrong if they could see the files for themselves.

Eric,

If you follow this angle on this and several other blogs, it becomes clear that the freeper in question posted from the EAST coast, but his post got a PDT time-stamp. The docs were posted, from what I've read, immediately after the show aired back east.

Allah, you know, I'm beginning to notice there's an awful lot of duplicative effort going on here.

I don't know how on earth we could arrange it, but it sure would make more sense to have everyone covering a specific item and then all cross-referencing each other.

Sort of like a newsroom. Crazy, I know.

Posted by: ace on September 14, 2004 04:25 PM

Are these shitwits going to argue two incompatible theories at the same time? They are real, but they are also fakes that Rove planted? Maybe Michael Moore thinks Americans are so stupid because he hangs out with these moonbats all day.

Posted by: Blacknimbus on September 14, 2004 05:36 PM

Seems to me that the looney left made this same time zone error when they tried to bash Bush and his trip to Iraq. Fools always seem to repeat their mistakes.

Posted by: Dman on September 14, 2004 06:03 PM

I'm aware of that, Brian. what I'm saying is that the availablity of the PDF files is a separate issue from the broadcast. Presumably they'd be linked on a page that also explained why CBS thought they were of interest. If this page went up well in advance of the broadcast it makes the broadcast moot in the timing of the memos' suspicious nature.

Posted by: Eric Pobirs on September 14, 2004 06:36 PM

Damn! You mean Olbermann is doing news? All that time I've wasted waiting for the scores! Damn!

Posted by: Just Don on September 14, 2004 07:43 PM

So, What is it called if McCauliffe is publishinh the DNC talking points in a press release within minutes of the show's end? Is that just honest and sincere liberals trying to educate the ignorant public?

Posted by: Dacotti on September 14, 2004 08:01 PM

Not to pick nits, but there are actually 7 timezones in the US. What does this have to do with the lousiness of Keith Olbermann?

Not one damned thing, thanks for asking.

Important Message from Recent Convert to Christianity and Yet Super-Serious Christian Tuq'r Qarlson: Actually Muslims love Jesus, it's Trump and his neocons who hate him
Tucker Carlson Network
@TCNetwork

The people in charge [Jews, of course -- ace] don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus.

Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity.

Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this.
He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again.
You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card.

Politico is reporting that multiple people have abruptly resigned from Eric Swalwell's gubernatorial campaign: "Members of senior leadership have departed the campaign, including Courtni Pugh, a strategic adviser who served as Swalwell's top liaison to organized labor groups."

So the campaign is collapsing due to the truth of the sexual harassment allegations.
