Don't Expect the New York Times to Highlight This 9-11 Commission Finding

...unless they can find some way to suggest that George Bush was the interim publisher of the Times in 1999:

At another point, on page 359, it describes how Jordan arrested 16 terrorists planning bombings in that country, including two U.S. citizens, but the news "only made page 13 of The New York Times."

In another brief shot at that paper, the report observes: "It is hard now to recapture the conventional wisdom before 9/11. For example, a New York Times article in April 1999 sought to debunk claims that Bin Laden was a terrorist leader, with the headline 'U.S. Hard Put to Find Proof Bin Laden Directed Attacks.'"

Was the New York Times asleep at the switch?

Did the New York Times take too many vacation days? Apparently they were on vacation, at least as regards terrorism, from 1996-2001.

Was the New York Times reading children's stories while it should have been on top of this issue?

The New York Times lied, people died...?

The best part of the 9/11 Commission findings;

They come out NOW, three years later, with the footage of the 9/11 terrorist being wanded at the airport.

Subtext:
There is information that WE have had for a long time, that YOU have not seen before. We know stuff you don't know.

If I were a Bush basher I'd think that was a good reason to keep my piehole zipped.

Ace, I wonder if there's perhaps a whole series of similar points to be made about the Times. As far as I know, the Times's having failed to rouse the nation and prepare us to protect ourselves from the emerging terrorist threat is unexplored territory. And it's not like you would be the one holding the Times to a higher standard. The Times and, ohmigod, the Times's hordes of coffeeshop intellectual readers put the Times on a pedestal. This is "the newspaper of record," the one that claims to deliver "all the news that's fit to print." The Times is at or near the pinnacle of bien-pensant intellectualism in America. As long as you kept making that point as you breakdanced all over the Times, no one could at all claim that you were being unjust by holding the Times directly responsible for the nation's being unprepared for the threat of al-Qaeda.

More, it's not just that our premier journalistic organization didn't prepare the nation to fight al-Qaeda; the Times didn't even engage itself to prepare its own, eponymous city's government and people for the sort of civil emergency the attack represents. Didn't the Times fail the people of New York City? After the first (1993) attack on the WTC, didn't the Times fail over the following eight years to provide wise counsel or even just a focused, discerning selection of news that would have led an intelligent man like Rudy Giuliani to realize the great steps New York City needed to take in order to be prepared for the day that terrorists might return to finish what their predecessors had started?

Important Message from Recent Convert to Christianity and Yet Super-Serious Christian Tuq'r Qarlson: Actually Muslims love Jesus, it's Trump and his neocons who hate him
Tucker Carlson Network
@TCNetwork

The people in charge [Jews, of course -- ace] don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus.

Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity.

Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this.
He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again.
You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card.
