Kerry's Deficit DeficitSadly, the budget deficit just isn't coming in as high as anticipated. Kerry might be facing a deficit of $100 billion in the deficit he's counting on. And, as a little bonus, Gallup finds the public's sentiment about the economy improves across the board. Finally, a majority of Americans (51%) say the economy is "getting better." Thanks to Qur'an Blog for the latter tidbit. HeyZeus wants to know where the cowbell is. Okay. Here's some audio cowbell, with special additional cowbell and other sound bits added by Blaster. posted by Ace at 01:00 PM
CommentsAce, you need a new Whoopee Thread for this one "America's heart and soul is freedom of expression without fear of reprisal," [W.G.] said in a statement. http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/212784p-183225c.html I can say any obnoxious thing I want and there's nothing you can do about it! So there! Ahhh, yes, free speech is speech free of consequences. Only in a Leftie's warped view of Amerikkka. Posted by: hobgoblin on July 16, 2004 01:13 PM
SPEECH free of consequences? Hob, buddy, you just scratch the iceberg. The heart of American Liberal thought is Government as Parent: Provider, protector, authority figure who protects us from ourselves, even if it means restricting our freedom, but failing to do that, protects us from the consequences of our own choices. It's shaky parenting when you're dealing with a five-year-old, let alone with an entire society. Posted by: Brian B on July 16, 2004 01:53 PM
Scratch the iceberg? WTF kind of complete cock-up of a metaphor did I just create? Sorry, folks, my bad. Take your pick, scratch the surface or tip of the iceberg, they're both in there somewhere. *mutters to self and trudges back to the coffee pot* Posted by: Brian B on July 16, 2004 02:02 PM
Caffeine for Brian B, STAT! Posted by: Nick on July 16, 2004 02:13 PM
Ace, my man, you're slipping. Re-read the post and ask yourself, "self, what's missing here?" Hmm? Posted by: HayZeus on July 16, 2004 02:49 PM
First I didn't know what you meant by "what's missing." I thought maybe you were on the left, digging at me for "missing" the fact that the deficit still remains, or something. Then I figured out what you were talking about. I'll see about finding some cowbell. Posted by: ace on July 16, 2004 02:56 PM
Brian, man, you slice the iceberg like a fucking hammer! Posted by: Paul Zrimsek on July 16, 2004 03:02 PM
Thanks ace. For a minute there my whole universe was out of order-seeing such good news without any cowbell was just... unnatural. *shiver* Posted by: HayZeus on July 16, 2004 03:16 PM
Paul Z, Thanks for the encouragement, but there's only one man who slices around here, and that's Mr. Paul Fucking Anka. I merely SCRATCH the iceberg, my man! Like a... a... a Fucking ALLEN WRENCH! Oh, and I missed the rest of the posts in here because of work, but I agree with HayZeus, the post cried out for coebell from the beginning. Thanks for updating that, Ace. Posted by: Brian B on July 16, 2004 07:37 PM
Coebell? COEBELL?????? Aw, screw it. I'm done for the week. See you all Monday. Posted by: Brian B on July 16, 2004 07:40 PM

Update to the video of a Russian soldier being spun around and thrown by the machinegun he was operating: The soldier was testing an old, archaic Russian machinegun intended to be mounted to a helicopter. The old gun was pressed into service as a possible anti-drone gun. The Russian army is generally depleted and being forced to bring a lot of old, unreliable weapons and platforms to the front.

FDA is providing an update regarding the sample of lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms de Mexico which was reported positive on July 18, 2026.
