Hey kids. Hope the weekend's going well. Back a little sooner than I expected but making things and being creative is always fun. As always, before using any power tools or chemicals, wear proper eye, ear and lung protection. No long sleeves, jewelry and put your hair up. Stay well within the limits of both the tool as well as your own comfort zone when using them.
Now, on to the workshop, studio, craft room, attic or basement and let's dive in!
First up, one of my regrets is not learning how to use a sewing machine. My dad trained as a textile designer and was quite skilled with a loom as well as the Singer and a needle and thread. Should've pestered him to teach me. Anyway, here's a seamstress with a really neat idea for patching jeans.
Michael Alm is one of the more popular woodworkers on YouTube. Follow along as he makes a really nice rolling barbecue station.
This Brit does custom weathering of locos and rolling stock as well as layout design. Of course his layout is really stunning, but all the more so because of outstanding camera work and video editing. A real treat for you model railroad lovers.
For you plastic modelers out there, this gentleman is making a really cool jungle diorama featuring a wrecked Japanese Zero. Lots of great tips and techniques and look on his channel for the companion video on how he built the wrecked plane.
Bob Clagett is one of the most well-known makers out there and he's into all sorts of things from woodworking and metalsmithing to 3-D printing and anything Star Wars. Here he's combining a few skills and materials to create an adjustable and very useful work light.
Here's a complete restoration of a 1950's Doepke Jaguar XK120 toy car. Amazing results on something that is pretty complex for a toy car
From toy cars to the real thing. Few of us have the skills or the gear to restore an automobile but these Russian dudes are amazing. And the video quality is outstanding. Auto restoration porn that is just so fascinating to watch.
Another great polymer clay artist who specializes in sculpting dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures.
Finally, another ambitious project. I'm not a fan of tiny houses but I have always wanted to design and build my own home. That probably will never happen but something like this, for a studio space or guest house might be something up my alley. I like the materials and the style.
