Trump Blasts Biden For Allowing In Unvetted Afghan Terrorists, Orders a Vetting of Biden's Afghans

I don't like posting this sort of stuff on Thanksgiving, but I missed the story yesterday, as I was out for a big chunk of the late afternoon.

After this, I'll just post Thanksgiving-themed open threads.

I know JJ covered this. I'll just re-cover it.

The left had the predictable response to one of Biden's unvetted Afghan terrorists being let through the open border. You'll never see this coming -- it was Trump's fault, for posting National Guardsmen in DC.

Trump forced Biden's terrorist to shoot wo brand-new Guardsmen, you see. He provoked the terrorist by providing law and order.

[I]nstead of directing outrage toward the assailant, prominent progressive voices turned their fire on Trump -- claiming the Guardsmen were in harm's way only because the administration sent them into the city.

New Yorker writer Jane Mayer insisted the troops "never should have been deployed," claiming she had watched them "pick up trash" and suggesting their presence was merely "for political show." Progressive YouTuber Keith Edwards went further, accusing Trump of an "illegal deployment" and asserting that the Guardsmen "would be fine" were it not for the president's decision to reinforce the capital.

Others leaned into the same narrative. Liberal commentator Wajahat Ali declared the National Guard "should never have been deployed in Washington, DC," while additional activists claimed Trump would now "twist this tragedy" into justification for strengthening law-and-order measures nationwide.

The presence of the two young. fresh-from-bootcamp Guardsmen provoked the Cultural Enrichment Officer, you see. Didn't you know that. racists?

The two West Virginia National Guard members critically wounded in Wednesday's ambush near the Farragut West Metro Station have now been identified as Andrew Wolfe and Sarah Beckstrom -- young soldiers who had taken their oaths less than a day before gunfire erupted on a downtown Washington sidewalk.

Wolfe, 22, was identified first after Musselman High School in Inwood released a statement confirming the alumnus was one of the soldiers struck. The school said the community was "deeply saddened" and urged residents to pray for him. Wolfe was rushed into surgery and remains in critical condition.

Trump blamed the shambling corpse Biden and his maniacal determination to import all of the criminals, rapists, and terrorists of the Third World into the US to punish us for having succeeded while the Third World failed.

In an address to the nation Wednesday, President Trump blamed Joe Biden's Afghan parole program for the brutal ambush of two National Guard soldiers in downtown Washington, saying the shooting was a direct result of the previous administration's decision to fly tens of thousands of unvetted evacuees into the country.

Trump said DHS officials had already told him the suspect taken into custody was an Afghan national who arrived during Biden's chaotic 2021 withdrawal. "He was flown in by the Biden administration in September 2021 on those infamous flights everybody remembers," Trump said from Palm Beach. He called Afghanistan "a hellhole on Earth" and said Biden "extended this man's status under legislation he signed -- a disastrous president, the worst in the history of our country."

Trump said the attack "shows the single greatest national security threat facing our nation," arguing that Biden's policies brought in "20 million unknown and unvetted foreigners" without regard for the consequences. He pledged to re-examine every Afghan brought in under Biden and remove anyone who has no legal right to be in the country. "If they can't love our country, we don't want them," he said.

Law-enforcement sources said the suspect -- 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal -- arrived under Operation Allies Welcome, the Biden-era resettlement program that made roughly 90,000 Afghans eligible for special visas and placed many of them in cities nationwide. Lakanwal was sent to Bellingham, Washington, one of the designated hubs for Afghan refugees. About 800 were resettled statewide in 2022, according to the Immigrant & Refugee Health Alliance.

Sources say Lakanwal overstayed his visa and was in the country illegally when he allegedly staged Wednesday's attack.

Round 'em up, take their fingerprints and photos, and ship them out.

I'm not sure this is a completely fair attack, but I'm more sure that I don't care if it's fair or not.

People are accusing seditious Senator Mark Kelly of having provoked the shooting, by telling soldiers they have a duty to resist the duly-elected Commander in Chief.

And that presumably includes foreign soldiers.

"You've got blood on your hands": Mark Kelly ripped for reaction to D.C. Guard shooting

...

Critics pointed out that Kelly's remarks came less than two weeks after he, Rep. Elissa Slotkin, Sen. Tammy Duckworth, and Sen. Richard Blumenthal rolled out a video and legislative package aimed at blocking Trump's authority to deploy the National Guard. The group's "No Troops in Our Streets Act," announced November 13, was framed as an effort to constrain the administration's ability to send Guard units into troubled areas--while the accompanying public messaging warned service members about following what Democrats described as "unlawful" orders.

He ginned up hatred against the National Guardsmen, just like they ginned up hatred against ICE and Border Patrol -- and then attacks went up on our border personnel by over 1000%.

They knew the same would happen with the Guard, and they either didn't care, or actively hoped their left-wing allies would "step up" their "resistance."

That tone has been simmering for days, and Wednesday's shooting poured gasoline on the fire. "Democrats and liberal pundits have been claiming Trump's deployment order is illegal since they were deployed," commentator Tim Pool posted. "Then y'all went out and said, 'You must defy illegal orders.' These Guardsmen were targeted." Kenny Cody, opinion editor at Human Events, was even more blunt: "You told people to disobey the President. You've got blood on your hands, Mark."

Trump has responded by ordering an additional 500 Guardsmen to back up the police in DC.

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are all safe and warm and hungry.
