Howdy Hordelings! A happy St. Patty's Day eve to all ye lads and lassies. Is your green beer ready? Have you already started partying? However you are spending your Sunday evening, thanks for making time to visit the ONT. Step on in and tell everyone what's on yer mind!
$9 million in grants from Lowe’s is going to support 15 nonprofits dedicated to training the next generation of tradespeople to meet the growing demand for workers—fueled by rising wages and expanding job opportunities.
The grants support training programs focusing on carpentry and construction, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and appliance repair.
From Alaska to Mississippi, each organization is helping prepare new tradespeople to fill the dearth in the US workforce.
In construction alone, average hourly earnings have risen 4.4% over the past 12 months, according to Associated Builders and Contractors.
“We listen closely to contractors and know that many candidates don’t have the necessary skills to fill the wide range of open trades positions,” said Janice Dupré, a Lowe’s executive vice president and chair of the Lowe’s Foundation in a press release.
“Through modern training methods, these nonprofits are unlocking the workforce’s potential while building an economy that rewards skills, not just titles or four-year degrees.”
As many morons already know, Mike Rowe (my fellow Marylander) is a big advocate of getting more youngsters into the much needed world of trades. His Mike Rowe Works Foundation does outstanding things in this realm.

Tonight's edition of 'Ette Couture is dedicated to Chanel, embodying the timeless elegance and innovative spirit that the iconic brand represents.
Melania in Chanel? Of course!
Melania wore a red metallic thread Chanel coat to light the National Tree on 2017. She paired it with her favorite Louboutin's in camel leather. If Melania ever had a need to donate her old clothes to someone in need, I raise my hand to be the person in need!
Melania also wore Chanel to the state dinner in 2018. This dress is lovely, but it isn't my favorite on Melania. Chanel does an amazing look with structure that helps define waists, and this one just falls a bit straight. Shoes? You can guess!
For the non ’ettes, this is what I mean by defining a waist...this is vintage Chanel (swoon) from a 1956 edition of Vogue. The model is Suzy Parker.
Another example here – if I could sew, I would recreate this and wear it today! If you can sew, I will send you my measurements. 😀
Finally, the Grand Dame herself doing the crazy noodle pose. I suppose it's to show off the dress? Or spine flexibility? Who knows! Maybe someone will educate us in the comments as we have an incredible depth of knowledge amongst the Horde!

Thanks, Piper!
