Gardening, Home and Nature Thread, Aug. 22
From Neal in Israel:
Katy, shalom,
I'd like to pass on some photos from the spring and early summer, before they become ancient history. They're already outdated, I know. Kept delaying in the hope of coming up with a killer photo.
Starting with white and pink amaryllis.

Love these. Wish they bloomed all year.

Edible Gardening/Putting Things By
GOT ZUCCHINI?
Need zucchini dessert recipes?
*
You also might be able to make some fall pies.
*
But even though we are in "harvest season", some people might want to check their extension agency calendars for fall planting: bush beans, peas, beets, turnips, kohl rabi, carrots, greens and more. Don't be shy. Take a chance.

Sunflowers
It's not exactly a garden but I thought you might like these photos of a local field of sunflowers. Still a few weeks out from harvest.
I post as Notsothoreau
Fun! I've seen some very dwarf commercial sunflowers growing near Sacramento.
They look quite different from the typical tall garden types.

From July 20:
Hello KT!
I have a joyous profusion of sunflowers blooming. We have had to prop up a few of them because they are so top heavy. The cleome and cosmos are starting to look like space aliens. The bees are having a great time!
Thanks again for all you do!
Mrs. Leggy
What a happy place for pollinators! The yard looks nice for people, too!

What has changed since last week's thread? Gardening, Home and Nature Thread, Aug. 15
I closed the comments on that post so you wouldn't get banned for commenting on a week-old post, but don't try it anyway.
