Why Film Is Better Than Digital Photography: 6 Reasons
All photographers argue about which is better film or digital? Here's why you should dumpy your DSLR and opt for SLR photography.

The old In-Box had submissions from a couple of Morons. Dayum, we have some handy Hobby Thread readers.
I received the following from:
Lurker FormerHostage…
This is a TV/Entertainment Center I made for my sister based on a photo she saw in a magazine. The magazine version was veneered MDF…pah! This baby is solid maple!
I was accused of hoarding clamps. The first photo is proof that I USE ALL MY CLAMPS!!! To paraphrase an old Irish saying…”May ye always be having one more clamp as ye actually be needin’”
The second photo is of the final assembly. Took me two months of weekends to finish. Note the hand drill on the floor. It belonged to my grandfather and is AT LEAST 70 years old. The penultimate photo is its final resting place and the last photo is the raw lumber I started with.

Hobbies don't need to be something created from your hands. As our friend RS tells us, you can use your feet for a hobby, the hobby of hiking. And yes, I would consider hiking a hobby.
Hello MisHum!
Long-time lurker, infrequent commenter "RS" here. Please excuse the intrusion.
I always enjoy the weekend AoS specialty threads. The hobby thread is a winner, though intimidating to me, as I'm not particularly handy nor patient enough for most of the featured projects.
Thus, I was happy to see a thread on camping and outdoor activities. I laughed at the intro photo. It's true, that some gear can be pricey, but the intro costs for beginners can be relatively modest. The important thing is to get out there in God's Creation! Gear can come later.
It's also important to get your kids involved. We started ours on short hikes when they were toddlers, and they're still at it. (Eldest just finished a trans-Alpine trek from Germany to Italy.) Hiking in our national parks is a lot cheaper than taking the family to Orlando for a week. Plus, the stuff you see out in the weeds is real.
Anyway, hiking is something that lasts a lifetime. My spouse and I are 29++++++ and still can and do get out. (Attached some pics from a recent excursion in Wyoming--only 5 miles, but very beautiful.)
Keep up the good work and thanks again.
Beautiful country there RS. I appreciate you sharing these today. Thank you for your kind words. I always appreciate them.
