McConnell and the Senate Republicans Have Sold Us Out on the Budget For the Last Time
They've sold me out on the budget for the last time, at least, because I will not vote for or support any Congressional Republicans ever again until Mitch McConnell is gone. I'm done. I can get Democrat representation of the type Mitch McConnell delivers by doing nothing, and that's what I intend to do going forward.
So enjoy your big Win, Bitch McConnell. You really defeated your true enemy once again, the Republican Base.
Republicans in the US Senate are preparing to betray their voters again. Somehow, against all odds, the surrender caucus has managed to up its game, this time looking to hand Joe Biden his entire agenda for 2023 just days before the GOP officially takes control of the House.
Mitch McConnell and his cohorts are apparently so terrified of fighting back that they are willing to concede the power voters just gave their party. Democrats must be giddy at their luck, having an "opposition" that refuses to actually oppose them.
Now, the details of the coming gut punch have been released, and they are much worse than imagined. Don't get me wrong, I knew this bill would be terrible, but this is next-level stuff.

NEW: Congress releases major spending bill with election reforms to prevent another Jan. 6
* $1.7 trillion government funding
* $44.9 billion Ukraine aid
* Electoral Count Act overhaul
They hope to pass it by Friday.
Yes, you read that right. This spending bill is $1.7 trillion dollars and extends through next fall. Republicans were given the power of the purse for 2023 and they won't even be able to use them because McConnell is so deadset on surrendering. It's inexplicable, and no, fear of a government shutdown is not an excuse. What is the point of winning elections if that power is conceded before the changing of the guard even occurs?
Then there's the $44.9 billion for Ukraine. That's an astronomical number that is completely unjustified. Even if one supports continuing to fund the war there, the responsible way to do it would be piece by piece every few months, knowing where every dime is going. This massive appropriation (that dwarfs the prior ones) will have none of those safeguards, with most of the discretion for the spending resting with Joe Biden.
Read the whole thing.
Mitch McConnell is calling this a "win for the GOP." Which is a lie; he scrambled to pass this before the GOP House could be sworn in precisely to deny the GOP any wins.
Here's a "win:"

NEW: Government funding bill gives Justice Dept extra money for Jan. 6 prosecutions
As @NBCNews reported in Oct, DOJ said the probe was under-resourced and this money was critically needed.
The new bill grants it.

"I've always been for prosecuting anybody who violated the law on January the 6th," says senior Senate Republican appropriator @RoyBlunt. "And there are like 800 cases already. So I can't imagine that they don’t need some extra money."
Oh perfect.
Crafty Mitch did get this key provision in Border Patrol funding inserted: The additional funds for the Border Patrol which the Democrats will brag about are expressly forbidden to be used for stopping illegal aliens from entering the country.
They can only be used for "processing" them, that is, filing their bogus asylum claims.
Keep this in mind for when the GOP sends you an email begging for money so they can "really fight" to secure the border.
More at Twitchy.
Like I said, I'm done with the GOP. I will only support a presidential candidate that I actually support. No lesser-of-two-evils stuff.
I will no longer support this Failure Theater. I will no longer support a party that aids and abets my own subjugation.
