The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“After I took out ISIS, I established a credible deterrent. That deterrent is now gone. The Taliban no longer has fear or respect for America, or America’s power. What a disgrace it will be when the Taliban raises their flag over America’s Embassy in Kabul. This is complete failure through weakness, incompetence, and total strategy coherence.”President Donald Trump

Quote II

‘The victims are understandably distressed by this unacceptable behaviour.’Surrey Police spokesperson

Quote III

“Any political settlement that the Afghans pursue to avert bloodshed must include having women at the table. The fate of women and girls in Afghanistan is critical to the future of Afghanistan. As we strive to assist women, we must recognize that their voices are important, and all must listen to them for solutions, respectful of their culture. There is bipartisan support to assist the women and girls of Afghanistan,” Speaker of The House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)

Quote IV

“There is always a tendency to use the model you know, which is your own model. When you build an army like that, and it’s meant to be a partner with a sophisticated force like the Americans, you can’t pull the Americans out all of a sudden, because then they lose the day-to-day assistance that they need.” retired Lt. Gen. Daniel Bolger

Quote V

Fire all the generals. Invite a few back, maybe a dozen. Clean out the Pentagon. Can all the “Diversity Consultants,” “Equal Opportunity Officers,” “Climate Change Mitigation Specialists,” and every other strap-hanging oxygen thief who doesn’t contribute to the only thing the military should be focusing on right now – putting Chi Coms in graves.Kurt Schlichter

Remember Valerie Plame and her "outing"? Well the current resident of the White House says, "Hold my beer".

‘You panicking amateur idiots’: Did the White House just accidentally out CIA operatives at ‘Doha Station’ in Qatar?

The White House shared this image of President Joe Biden meeting via video conference with Vice President Kamala Harris and other national security officials to discuss the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan:

But many on Twitter noticed that the White House may have accidentally outed CIA operatives in the process in the boxes labeled “CIA” and “Doha Station”:

The Taliban says, "Mission Accomplished".

The scene at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul has devolved into chaos as both Afghan and foreign nationals seek to flee Afghanistan amid the Taliban’s violent campaign to reclaim the country.

Our compassionate conservative George W. Bush is nowhere to be seen or found. Silence is golden.

Speaking of silence. Has Sunsettin' Joe overdosed on Rivastigmine (Exelon)?

Haiti. Good news and bad news. First the bad news, high death toll after earthquake strikes. The good news is that the Clinton Foundation won't there to grift.

AT least 1,297 people are confirmed dead after a huge 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit western Haiti on Saturday.

The quake struck 8 km from the town of Petit Trou de Nippes, about 150 km west of the capital Port-au-Prince, at a depth of 10 km, the US Geological Survey said.

More than 5,700 are injured and many more are still missing.

Prime Minister Ariel Henry said he was rushing aid to areas where towns were destroyed and hospitals overwhelmed with incoming patients.

USGS has estimated “thousands of fatalities” are likely and “tens of thousands of injuries in poor mountainous communities" and has issued a "red alert"

Talk about a "Bad luck island".

Oh boo-hoo, The ability for Americans to defy the central planners is a wonderful thing. The tears of liberals, LOLGF'd.

Science has provided America with a decent idea of which areas of our country will be most devastated by climate change, and which areas will be most insulated from the worst effects. Unfortunately, it seems that population flows are going in the wrong direction — today’s new Census data shows a nation moving out of the safer areas and into some of the most dangerous places of all.

To quote Planes, Trains and Automobiles, we’re going the wrong way.

The Census Bureau’s new map of the last decade’s population trends shows big growth in the west and on the coasts — and declines in the inland East Coast and Great Lakes region.

Surprise, surprise!!! Research Shows Working From Home Doesn’t Work. Here’s How Employers Should Tackle the Problem

Research Shows Working From Home Doesn’t Work. Here’s How Employers Should Tackle the Problem

We followed the science on COVID-19. Now, as the end of the pandemic draws closer, it’s time to follow the science on working from home.

The verdict is clear: For many jobs—particularly collaborative, high skill level, high-value roles—working from home simply doesn’t work, and we shouldn’t confuse a temporary abnormal with a new normal.

The pandemic will not be ‘the death of the office,’ as some have suggested, but working from home also won’t become entirely a thing of the past. Many workers wouldn’t want it that way because they enjoy the freedom and flexibility it gives them. The solution for the future is a structured hybrid model, acknowledging that working from home doesn’t work long-term for most jobs, while still giving workers flexibility. One way to do that would be to allocate time slots—perhaps specific days—of in-office working for all employees to maintain workplace productivity and collaboration, while also allowing working from home to continue outside those hours.

Cats may chase laser lights. They don't follow 9mm projectiles. Genius Award Winners.

While using the laser sight on a friend’s 9mm handgun to play with a cat, a Wisconsin woman accidentally shot the weapon’s owner in the leg, according to police.

As detailed in a criminal complaint, Jashanti Pleasant, 19, was inside a friend’s Kenosha apartment Tuesday afternoon when she removed the handgun from a nightstand drawer. The gun had been placed there by James Daniels, 21.

Investigators say that Pleasant--who had been drinking brandy, according to a witness--picked up the Smith & Wesson gun and “turned on the laser sight and was pointing it at the floor to get a cat to chase it.”

While playing with the firearm, Pleasant discharged the weapon, striking Daniels in the right thigh. Daniels, who was standing in a doorway when hit, stood “in shock for a second and then he asked Ms. Pleasant if she had shot him,” according to the witness quoted in the complaint.

Now she has a leg to stand on. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

A £15,000 prosthetic leg has been retrieved from a lake after an appeal to divers for help.

Josephine Bridges, from Birmingham, lost it in Windermere in Cumbria's Lake District while swimming.

A post on social media by her sister was forwarded to Angus Hosking, founder of Lake District Diving, who is regularly called by people who have lost things in the water.

"She was pretty stunned for me to have found it," he said.

Ms Bridges lost her specialist watersports prosthetic at some point after jumping off the jetty at Millerground near Rayrigg Meadow and swimming back to dry land.
