First-World Problems...Part I Have No Idea
I made some chocolate-chip cookie dough from a new recipe, and it called for very large, very tall mounds of dough. So I thought I could finally find a use for this catastrophically badly designed and manufactured piece of kitchen equipment that I have had for a very long time because I am too cheap to toss it out.
Well, it didn't work. The metal simply wasn't rigid enough to scoop the chilled dough, which was surprisingly dense. I had to cut sections with a knife (and then weigh them because I am OCD in the kitchen), but I wonder whether the high-end scoops are built well enough to work on very dense foods?
Sometimes there simply isn't the perfect tool for the job. And before you say it, yes, I should have portioned the dough before I chilled it. But that would have been messy, so there really isn't a perfect way of doing it.
So have at it: what tasks don't have the proper tools? And why aren't you in the midst of a tool company start-up?
As for the cookies? Yup, they were great, so stick around for the Food ThreadTM if you want to see some food pron!
