The Morning Report - 3/18/21 [J.J. Sefton]

zhivaust.jpg

Good morning, kids. Thursday and the move to now purge not only the officer corps but even more alarmingly, the ranks of our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines of anyone in uniform down to the lowliest buck private whom the illegal junta in DC views as a threat to their power remains the top story. All the other insanity, from the border to political/cultural persecution and violence, to the looting of the treasury, the dismantling of any form of checks and balances, the corruption of our judicial and law enforcement institutions, the emboldening of our enemies abroad, to the brainwashing of yet another generation of our children, and everything else in between are all crucially important. But this massive multi-headed hydra of turmoil and chaos is ultimately going to cause a complete collapse of our society, as whatever gossamer-thin strands of restraint are ripped away. The way things are shaking out on all fronts, it seems as if it's just around the corner as we are definitely moving from the "slowly" phase to the "all at once."

And that leaves only the military left to restore some sort of order. The question is, what sort of order? All indications are that it's going to be an order of the "New World" variety.

Recently, my Navy unit held an "extremism stand-down" training that was required of all Department of Defense personnel, as mandated by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin here. According to Vice Admiral John B. Nowell, Jr, the purpose of the training was "to ensure service members and civilian personnel clearly understand the damaging effects of extremism and begin developing more effective, sustainable ways to eliminate the corrosive impacts extremist activity can have on our Force."

That aim, of course, is laudable...

...But that's not actually what the training says. The training we received this month was rushed through in the wake of the Washington, D.C., riot. The course, which was given in a PowerPoint deck, included a slide defining "extremism." One would expect a broad, catch-all phrase that makes it clear that any radical activity undermining our nation or promoting criminal activity would not be tolerable.

But that would be wrong. Extremism was narrowly defined as "supremacist" beliefs only. That's it. Nothing else. Nothing about anarchism, nothing about any group that might be found on the left. Everyone in the room -- of every race, incidentally -- had a collective hush as the chilling effect of this clearly biased definition dawned on our teamAs one person on our team put it, "Why does the DoD only care about one kind of extremism? Why do they refuse to talk about antifa? Why is it extremist to attack a Capitol police officer, but not extremist to attack a Portland police officer?"...

Throughout the presentation, the drumbeat was consistent, constant... and chilling. This was a shot across the bow to the right, and deafening silence for the left. As true Americans, committed to our fellow servicemen and women, we should reject all extremism unequivocally from any source. My concern is that this blatantly political training is not only bad, it's counter-productive. Extremists feed on paranoia, and the Department of Defense just fed them a healthy dose of it.

What do they think these people will do? Quit? Because some admiral made them sit through three hours of lectures? Hardly. They'll go underground. And they'll continue to fester.

With all due respect to the author, just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean people are not out to get me. Let me state, yet again and clearly: there are no extremists on our side of the ledger. Indeed, there is no right-center-left paradigm. To accept that is to accept the equivalency meme and I utterly reject it. It is, as Mark Levin put it, Liberty vs. Tyranny. For lack of a better descriptor, the Left are the tyrants. It is the Left that exclusively uses violence - along with subversion, propaganda, intimidation and outright lies - as a tool to advance its political agenda. Always has, always will. Every rotten, horrible, inexcusable episode, all the misery, suffering and pain experienced by the citizenry throughout our nation's now finished history is the fault of the Left. But I'm going off on a tangent.

The salient point is the question of how those of us who have not been drummed out of the service on trumped-up charges of "insurrection" for being Trump supporters, white, Judeo-Christian, male-male, female-female, pro-America as founded or otherwise "normal" when push comes to shove will react. When an illegal and immoral order is given by a superior officer, who will refuse and who will claim later "I was only following orders?" That, of course, presupposes a reckoning at a future date by something resembling a restored constitutional republic. And from where I sit, that scenario is very much in doubt. UPDATE: just commented that "Just as the mask edicts are meant to identify those refusing to wear them as potential troublemakers, I imagine the military is going to institute more and more regulations that are designed to spot potential "troublemakers" as well. By troublemakers, I mean those who will not blindly obey illegal or immoral orders.

For every monstrosity the Democrats drag forth before the public, they are pursuing another hundred out of the spotlight within the labyrinthine administrative state that makes law while no-one is looking. This administration is relentless in pursuing bad policies that hurt Americans and erode further the few constitutional bonds that keep the nation intact.

Which leads to a painful possibility:

I find myself asking the same questions millions of Americans now ask themselves: given this campaign of outright hostility toward the American people and general dereliction of duty to protect and defend the states, is the American government intentionally trying to provoke civil conflict? Are all these horrendous policies leading to armed confrontation against red state holdouts? Has D.C. transformed the Iraq War's "Preemptive War" Doctrine into a plan of action against its own citizens?...

...Now that the pretext of using troops to put down MAGA "insurrectionists" has been established, it will be ignominiously used to justify military support for confiscating guns, enforcing extended pandemic lockdowns, and identifying Americans too attached to the Bill of Rights. (The fact that Sundance [at The Conservative Treehouse] chose the Ides of March to outline the likelihood of such an intimate betrayal by the military against the states is, I suspect, no coincidence for a meticulous writer who enjoys reaching readers on an emotional, as well as an intellectual, level.)

What really caught my eye, though, was the way commenters responded to the article: they almost universally agreed that the U.S. military could no longer be trusted and that it should instead be viewed as yet another institution successfully co-opted by the Democrats to push "woke" socialism, enforce commie cancel culture, and punish conservatives. Just as James Comey's spying on the Trump campaign and Robert Mueller's Democrat-led Russia collusion investigation destroyed the reputations of the FBI and DOJ, and just as John Brennan's public disinformation and propaganda leaks designed to take down President Trump forever politicized the CIA, now Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's decision to go after and eliminate Trump voters in the military's ranks has dramatically weakened the public's trust in the military...

If these questions don't haunt the men and women now holding the reins of government in D.C., then they are monumental fools on at least two levels: (1) they have deceived themselves into believing that some chimerical international government will provide global peace and security in the years to come; and (2) they have forgotten so much of American history that they actually believe American patriots can be subdued and brought to heel without causing much of a stir.

The first failure reflects profound ignorance; the second failure reflects profound hubris. And taken together, these Democrat delusions will deliver a profound American tragedy.

Yikes.
