Government: Ain't It Grand! Authoritarian And Incompetent
This is heartening news...pushing back against the jack-booted, religion-hating thugs in government is always a good thing, especially when it sounds like the restrictions placed on religion are capricious. And by "capricious" I mean viciously anti-religion, pro-progressive, and antithetical to everything this country stands for.
Chattanooga church sues city for banning drive-in services
The lawsuit claims the city of Chattanooga violated the First and Fourteenth Amendments and there is no justification for banning drive-in services.
"The City and Mayor have specifically targeted churches by banning drive-in services, despite permitting packed parking lots at retail establishments and drive-in restaurants."
This stems from a post by Mayor Berke ahead of Easter stating that, "drive-in services . . . even in their cars with the windows rolled up, for any length of time will be considered a violation of our shelter-in-place directive."
Extending that tortured logic just a bit...so people stuck in traffic jams are also violating that order? And how about people in line at the drive-through windows of fast-food joints?

This is amazing. New York's corrupt hack mayor is also an incompetent and ignorant boob. I guess you can include Bloomberg in this tarring, but I prefer to go after de Blasio, because he has been particularly vocal about others' failings, and even more vocal about how wonderful a job he is doing.
How New York City's Emergency Ventilator Stockpile Ended Up on the Auction BlockThe city’s department of health, working with the state, was to begin purchasing ventilators and to “stockpile a supply of facemasks,” according to the report. Shortly after it was released, Bloomberg held a pandemic planning summit with top federal officials, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, now the face of the national coronavirus response.
In the end, the alarming predictions failed to spur action. In the months that followed, the city acquired just 500 additional ventilators as the effort to create a larger stockpile fizzled amid budget cuts.
Even those extra ventilators are long gone, the health department said on Sunday. The lifesaving devices broke down over time and were auctioned off by the city at least five years ago because the agency couldn’t afford to maintain them.
de Blasio was elected in 2013 and took office in January of 2014, so this falls squarely in his venal lap. This jackleg has consistently made the wrong choices with just about everything, and it is only because of the laziness, stupidity and machine-politics mindset of NYC that he isn't a vapid backbencher, or even more appropriately, in jail for his underhanded dealings with his handlers in the real estate industry.
And...a belated hat tip for the church article to Buck Throckmorton. Oops.
