Saturday Gardening and Puttering Thread 3/21/20 [KT]
Goodbye to Winter! Spring Equinox has happened! It was on March 19 this year. Earliest it has been in over a century!
Tom sent us some photos back in February, when winter was still really winter. I know there is still some winter in some parts, but this is REAL winter. Love the pup above.
We live a few miles north of the Minnesota border in Northwestern Ontario. We're about 45 minutes out of Thunder Bay at Mink Mountain on the north shore of Lake Superior. Rugged and beautiful and always incredible sunrises over the many islands out in the lake and Mink Bay.
From the lake. Nice yard:
Sunrises. Beautiful.
Flowers and Foliage
From last week:
After four fairly nice, almost normal days, winter decided to show up one more time.

Beginning a beautiful new year, doesn't give a flying fack about COVID-19.

From 40 miles north:
The Iris army has started deployment
Prepare yourself for the Face of the Snake! I could never have imagined that two drops of water could transform a flower like that.
More Critters
Wintry scenes from Jake Holenhead:
A Northern Red Shafted Flicker on a suet cake.
This squirrel is determined to get sunflower seeds.
In 2016 while visiting my mom near Spokane, WA turkeys started showing up looking for food. Due to all the snow they were getting desperate. Some flew and some hopped up to get crab apples from the trees in her yard. Once those were gone they stated eating green pine needles. The second photo was my mom's male cat (since deceased) looking out at the turkeys.
Spring has come to Switzerland, though. This is our new Swiss Garden Guide Dog, Gioia. She is in her yard today. Can't go out on the street, just like some of us. Note the lawn daisies. I think I see some crocuses and hyaciths, too.
Gardens of The Horde
You planting anything? Think I'll put some sprouted potatoes in an odd corner. Time for green beans to go in. Maybe I'll start some sprouts in the house. To deal with short-term empty shelves in the supermarket. Sprouts are quick. Remember to sprout safely. And don't comment on old threads.
Are you planting anything?
