New York Times Bans Reporters From Appearing on Don LeMon, Rachel Maddow, Calling Those Shows "Too Partisan"
The cloyingly leftist New York Times is one to talk.
But it's nice to see this dispute.
Vanity Fair published the explosive report, which alleged MSNBC's Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell, as well as CNN anchor Don Lemon, made the newspaper's no-go list.
The magazine began its report by alleging the Times' financial editor David Enrich had initially accepted an invitation to appear on "The Rachel Maddow Show" May 20 to discuss a report involving President Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner's transactions with Deutsche Bank, but had to ultimately turn down the appearance after he informed the communications department.
Conservative critics are laughing at the New York Times' pretense of not being "too partisan."
"This isn't a news story, it's a sitcom plot. The nation's most liberal paper is suddenly concerned that the wacky network filled on air with its employees might be too far left," [MRC's Dan] Gainor told Fox News. "The Times is liberal on the opinion and news pages on every major issue facing the nation -- from abortion to taxes. Yet, MSNBC is even further left? Does anyone at The Times read their own paper?"
Conservative strategist Chris Barron echoed Gainor's reaction to the Vanity Fair story.
"I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this story," Barron told Fox news. "Has anyone from the New York Times actually read the New York Times? If they want to avoid the appearance of overt partisanship they might try taking a look in the mirror first."
Don LeMon is all crankypants over the edict.
He says leftwing activists pretending to be journalists should "support" each other.
CNN anchor Don Lemon pushed back on a report that The New York Times is discouraging its reporters from appearing on his show, calling the reported decision "shortsighted" at a time "when journalism is under attack."
"I do not get the sense that they are banning reporters from my show. But, I don't work for the Times so I can’t be sure," Lemon told the Daily Beast by email. "However, it would be extremely shortsighted if they are when journalism is under attack. We should support each other. Period."
BTW, if you don't know, Tucker Carlson pronounces Lemon's name as "LeMon," as if it's French. It's some kind of bait. I thought I'd follow his example.
