IM Tania Sachdev
As always, the chess/dress pr0n thread is an open thread, so there is no such thing as an off-topic comment.
Easier Problem - Black To Play (889)
Goal: Force White to trade his rook for the 'a' pawn
Hint: Set up two threats with one move

More Challenging Problem - Black To Play (950)
(Note that Black is in check)

Easier Problem - Black To Play
8/R4pkp/6p1/8/5P1P/4P1P1/p4K2/r7 b - - 0 1
1...Rh1!
Threatens, of course, 2.a1Q. But if he takes, he'll get rekt by a skewer:
2.Rxa2 Rh2+
3.Kf3 Rxa2 and wins
This leaves White with taking the pawn to prevent queening, but he will lose the exchange - and the game:
2.e4 a1=Q
3.Rxa1 Rxa1
More Challenging Problem - Black To Play
8/6r1/1P3R2/7K/8/5k2/4p2P/8 b - - 0 1
1...Ke4!
Black sets a trap: 2.Re6+ Kf5 Rxe2 Rh7#.
2.Rf8 e1=Q
3.Re8+ Kf5
White is hoping for a draw by perpetual check, but Black will be able to get around it.
4. Rf8+ Ke6
5. Re8+ Re7 and wins.
Hope to see you all next week!

Note: that cryptic line of letters and numbers you see underneath each board diagram is a representation of the position in what is known as "Forsyth-Edwards Notation", or F.E.N. It's actually readable by humans. Most computer applications nowadays can read FEN, so those of you who may want to study the position, you can copy the line of FEN and paste into your chess app and it should automatically recreate the position on its display board. Or, Windows users can just "triple click" on it and the entire line will be highlighted so you can copy and paste it into your chess app.
