"So the FBI report on Kavanaugh was released and the Democrats are all like, boo hoo hoo, it's not what we want. The doddering hag Feinstein said the most notable part of this report is what's not in it. Oh, you mean like any sort of corroborating evidence? Nothing that proves Kavanaugh was a drunken boof and rape monster? That sort of thing? Yeah, about that -- you know, nothing is stopping the Senate Democrats from conducting their own investigation, if they don't trust the FBI. After all, that would be part of the whole 'advise and consent' thing the Constitution says they need to do. Of course, it's too late now for them to be putting together some sort of internal investigative team, but they can blame DiFi for that, since she's the one who sat on Ford's letter for 7 weeks and didn't bother telling anyone until it was pretty much too late. And kudos to moron LiveFreeOrDie for pointing out in the Sunday Morning Book Thread that for the Senate to basically outsource the Kavanaugh investigation to an executive branch agency creates a 'separation of powers' issue that undermines the checks and balances built into the constitution. You know, Congress does this a lot. Since WWII, this country has been involved in a number of wars, we've sent out our young men and women to fight and die in these conflicts, but not once has Congress exercised its constitutional duty to declare war. Lazy bastards outsourced their decisions to the executive branch, and then they complain about an 'imperial' presidency. So, to sum up: the Democrats are dopes, Congress is full of lazy bastards, and you should read LiveFreeorDie's erudite comment, which is comment #154 in last Sunday's book thread."
