Senate Votes 51 to 49 to Advance Kavanaugh to Final Vote
Murkowski Votes "No" to End Debate
Collins, Flake, and Manchin Vote "Yes"
She's probably a "no" on the actual confirmation unless her game is to vote no on cloture and yes on the confirmation. Which is very unusual, but then, she's unusual: She's a liberal pretending to be a Republican.
I think it's a little more possible than most people are saying that her vote is a strategic one, where she'll say "I wanted more time to investigate" but will vote "Yes" on Saturday (or Sunday).
That said, I think she's a no, and I think it's time that one of the most conservative states did better for itself than having the second-most liberal Republican in the Senate. She's not up for reelection until 2022, unfortunately; on the plus side, that gives people plenty of time to start organizing a Senate run.
Manchin will make a statement about his vote shortly. Collins will have an announcement at 3pm.
Ben Sasse will put on a fringe jacket and "rap" with the kids about sex and "changes your bodies are going through."
The Morning Rant: OM and I posted at the exact same minute. I'll put The Morning Rant back up in a half hour.
