"This is For Syria!:" Man Attacks Cops With Hammer Outside Notre Dame Cathedral While Swearing Vengeance for Syria

The man's motive is obviously unknown.

On Tuesday afternoon, a man tried to attack several police officers with a hammer on the forecourt of Notre-Dame, in Paris. A police officer was wounded. The attacker was heard shouting: "This is for Syria!"

Police shot the attacker. The suspect has been admitted to the hospital. His condition is unknown.

The attacker was identified as an Algerian student in his 40s. In addition to the hammer, he was armed with two knives.
