Open Thread and Thoughts of Great and Weighty Consequence
The Non-Partisan Teller of Truth disputes Rand Paul's contention that the "climate models" have had to be frequently adjusted to, um, accord with actual reality.
Hillary Clinton sketches out a "conspiracy theory" of "Americans" "guiding" Russian hackers, and the leftwing shill Andrea Mitchell actually calls it a "conspiracy theory" for which Hillary doesn't have evidence.
The left never calls out leftwing conspiracy theories-- might be evidence that even the left is now attempting to guide their drunk and lonely great aunt out the door and into a nice Retirement Community.
Even if you don't read Sexton's post, you should definitely watch this Supercut of Hillary's excuses, made by Free Beacon.
Or else you're a Russian agent who's probably guilty of LOGAN ACT VIOLATIONS.
Speaking of lesbians, social justice warriors and gender warriors are, get this, offended and outraged yet again.
An academic posted something that's obviously true and everyone knows it -- that lesbians just make out with other girls to get guys all excited -- so they've now got blood coming out of their eyes, their... whatever.
You know, progressives have been pushing controversial claims about human behavior and sexuality for like 100 years, and have consistently called traditionalists superstitious sentimentalists for disputing it. Even if such claims were ugly and went to the heart of one's identity -- like the claim that daughters want to sleep with their fathers, and men want to sleep with their mothers. Stuff that claims that people's real motivations for doing things are largely hidden from themselves.
Given that the Sexual Left has been pushing such ideas for decades, you'd think they'd take the advice they "offer" to traditionalists and say, "Well, that's a provocative claim, and it certainly antagonizes my egotistical conception of myself as entirely self-willed and not just a biological automaton programmed by Behavioral Evolution, but I guess I should at least be open to reading the paper."
Nope! Because their rules are only for the Low Caste, peons. You're the only ones with lizard-brains who can be explained by Behavioral Evolution. They, on the other hand, are perfect creatures created by God who know everything about themselves perfectly (and will tell you all about themselves, quite against your will, if you have a week or two to listen to them drone on and on).
Oh, and Harvard will be offering, get this, a course about a TV show this fall. Wow, what a novelty. The course will be about Game of Thrones, and how a fictional tv show can teach us about stuff that didn't happen in actual history.
This Folklore and Mythology class will look at the way the George R.R. Martin's series and HBO TV show based on those books "echoes and adapts, as well as distorts the history and culture of the 'medieval world' of Eurasia from c. 400 to 1500 CE" by exploring " a set of archetypal characters at the heart of Game of Thrones the king, the good wife, the second son, the adventurer, and so on with distinct analogues in medieval history, literature, religion, and legend," according to a description of the course provided to TIME...
To think, back in the Old Days, studying Medieval history and literature consisted of actually studying Medieval history and literature. Now our modern world allows us to study the Middle Ages by watching an HBO soap opera whose roots extend all the way back to 2010.
If students go to college to "study" Harry Potter and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, why don't we prepare them for their college "academic" careers and just sit them in front of tv screens all day in school, instead of just once a week when the teacher is hung-over?
