White Buzzfeed Reporter Leaving Milwaukee, Abandoning Coverage of Riots, Due to White People Being Threatened With (and Victimized By) Racist Violence
Well, yes.
I've noted too many times to note again, but here it is again, briefly:
I accept the basic tenets of the (mainly) liberal claim that constantly stirring up "They're Taking Advantage Us!" resentments leads to group hatreds and possibly -- or inevitably -- unfair treatment of the disparaged group, including violence.
That's why I don't cover the knockout game. It's a real thing. People really are out there knocking out white people just to get some racecrime kicks.
But I don't want to tap into that dark and potent tribal-survival part of the brain and get people agitated against black people.
But here's my question:
Why is there never any condemnation of some black people's "They're Out to Get Us, Let's Get Them First!" agitations against White People?
From the sister of the guy (justifiably, it seems) shot in Milwaukee urging rioters to not burn their own part of the city, but to go out into the white suburbs and burn their shit, to the black mobs identifying white drivers and surrounding their cars in order to attack them --
to the racist conspiracy theory -- scarcely different than Hitler's Jewish Conspiracy theory -- that there actually is no problem with elevated crime rates among blacks, White people are just making that all up (recently advanced by "professor" and fan of black serial killer Christopher Dorner, Marc Lamont Hill --
does the liberal claim, which again, I happen to believe, that constant hate-speech directed at an out-group will encourage racism and racial violence against that out-group only apply to white people? Are all other people of all other races for some unspecified reason wholly immune to this Cycle of Hatred effect, or are white people simply the only race evil and stupid enough to be prey to it?
Or is it simply that White Lives Do Not Matter, and if some whites are killed or badly beaten due to the constantly repeated conspiracy theories and insane hatred propagated by black racists, well, those are just acceptable losses in advancement of The Struggle?
Which is it? This seems to be an important question and yet, for some reason, the media never asks it, and certainly does not ask Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton about it.
This is why people are becoming cynical about tolerance and keeping a lid on "angry rhetoric" -- not because we don't believe in it, but because the people who scream the loudest that they believe in it sure don't act like they believe in it.
They seem to view it only as a method of political attack and social control -- for their enemies only, and not as a universally-applicable ethic.
I'm a small-c conservative, a temperamental conservative. ( I don't think I believe in most of the bullshit of the Professional Conservative Big-C movement any longer.)
But as a small-c conservative, I believe in rules -- bright-line rules, evenly applied, generally applicable to everyone.
Those rules that are generally applicable to everyone are the only real rules -- a rule only applied to a certain group of people is not a "rule."
It's an aggression against a disfavored social or political group.
And as a small-c conservative, I feel a basic characterological imperative to defy fake rules imposed on me as a method of political attack.
Now if those rules are generally applied -- I'm more than happy to comply.
