Evolutionary Change Isn't Going To Cut It Any More [CBD]
Everything he says makes sense, but nothing he suggests will have any affect on the existential problems of the Republican Party.Hugh Hewitt: Here's How to Fix GOP Primaries, Debates
Problem #1: Who the hell are you? If the Republican party is truly the party of the entrenched, inside-the-beltway leeches, then man up and admit it. And change the name to "The Trough Party."
Problem #2: Do you want to win? If so, then court the people who may vote for your ideals, whatever those may be. But pretending that Hispanics are the new and untapped Republican voting bloc is just nuts.
Problem #3: The primary system is indeed broken, but tweaking it won't fix a damned thing. Here is one revolutionary solution....recognize that the states with the highest percentage of Republican voters should go first. That means Iowa and New Hampshire can go suck eggs. Utah, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Idaho, etc, with their solid Republican majorities get to go first. And this isn't a new idea...it''s pretty obvious.
Except....nothing is going to get fixed, especially if Trump loses. He is, as I wrote somewhere else months ago, The Republican Party's Lifeline -- If He Loses In The General Election
So....what are some of the other obvious problems with obvious fixes? Clear, concrete changes....no massive shifts that are, at best, unlikely to occur.
