Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio: It's Kind of Important to Beat Hillary
I don't get how Ryan's or Rubio's limited support of Trump -- cast as "We must beat Hillary" -- somehow "nukes" their credibility.
I'm not especially happy with Candidate Trump, but that doesn't mean that Hillary has ceased being a deadly threat to the Republic.
Am I still concerned about Trump's impulsiveness? Yes.
Am I still concerned that he's not psychologically fit to be President? Yes.
Am I still worried about his thirst to use his power to squelch critics? Yes.
But Hillary Clinton is two of those things -- instead of being impulsive, she's a calculating, dogmatic liar in the service of Cultural Marxism Worldwide, Inc.
People acting as it's a blow to one's credibility to look at two distasteful outcomes, and yet decide that one outcome is less distasteful than the other, are being kind of frivolous and solipsistic here, I think.
I get it from Rubio fans, who I have long ago written off as flighty and strange-minded creatures who even at this late date are campaigning for some kind of 11th hour Rubio Surprise.
But Cruz fans aren't so preposterous.
It is what is is.
There is a difference between getting in a car with an impulsive drunk driver and being doused in gasoline and set aflame by a psychopathic arsonist. The first is no pleasure, but it's probably survivable. The latter is not.
I'll get into the car, personally.
That doesn't mean I think it's a good thing to drive drunk, or that my previous warnings about drunk driving were baseless or feigned.
It just means I don't want to be burned to death by Hillary Clinton.
