They know what's good for you, and they're very willing -- nay, eager -- to utilize agents of the state armed with guns to force you to do what's right.

"Other countries have mandatory voting," Obama said Wednesday in Cleveland, where he spoke about the importance of middle class economics.

"It would be transformative if everybody voted -- that would counteract money more than anything."

At least 26 countries have compulsory voting, according to the Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance. Failure to vote is punishable by a fine in countries such as Australia and Belgium; if you fail to pay your fine in Belgium, you could go to prison.

Fascism has long been predicted to come to America with a smiling face.

He notes that if the very least interested and informed people are forced to vote, on pain of imprisonment, fine, or having their welfare benefits docked, they will be swayed entirely by 30 second commercials (because what other possible information do they have to go on), which will result in elections both more controlled by the Big Money Obama allegedly opposes, and elections which result in poorer governance, as more uninformed people vote for whoever tells them whatever on TV.

But note: These things are, for Obama, features rather than bugs.
