Kaus: Democrats Who Voted for, or Supported, the Gang of 8 Amnesty Bill Were All Defeated
...with two possible exceptions: Jeanne Shaheen barely won against an out-of-state longshot challenger, and Mark Warner probably won against Ed Gillespie.
But otherwise: They all lost.
Kaus thinks that there might be a connection here.
This WaPo Wonkblog post predicts...
Senate Democrats aren't likely to care at all about Obama's attempts to burnish his legacy in his final two years. They're going to be laser-focused on winning the Senate back.
Now look, that's Just a Blogger (really). Sure it's a WaPo blogger, but still, just a blogger.
But let's credit that at least as a possibility.
I had thought this Hot Air piece spitballing the idea that Obama would cancel his planned executive amnesty was a bit too optimistic.
But considering the data -- Democratic Senators supporting the amnesty were wiped out, save one (or two) -- maybe it is possible that Senate Democrats will tell Obama they won't support his executive amnesty and, if forced to, will vote with the Republicans to undo it if he insists on trying it.
I don't know. Still seems like a longshot to me. But who knows.
