Food Thread: Free-Form Edition Part 2 [CBD]

Do not eat wild mushrooms unless you are an expert at identifying them. It simply is not worth the risk. This is a blog post, not a field guide. Once again....do not harvest and consume wild mushrooms unless you are trained in their identification.

Welcome to an abbreviated edition of the Food Thread, where much is said about very little, but today even less will be said about almost nothing.

Those morels are pretty much the only interesting thing that happened to my taste buds all weekend, but since they were wild, it was an exciting and rare event.

Okay...so those weren't the exact morels we ate, but that photo is also much better than the one that will soon be deleted from my phone.

Brushed off, excised of the many ants that seem to relish morchella vulgaris, and then sautéed in butter. Not bad at all, although the smaller, more intensely flavored morchella esculenta are my favorites.

Needless to say, if you don't know exactly what you are doing, don't risk wild mushrooms. Some of them tend to do nasty things like destroy your liver in one day.

And I will leave you with Niedermeyer's Dead Horse's dinner for this evening......
