OT Political thread-what happened? [WeirdDave]

Over the last few weeks, we've seen a dizzying succession of institutes of “higher” learning do baffling things. We know that they're progressive, but they've been breaking their own rules. Condoleezza Rice, a black woman, was given the bums rush out of Rutgers University's graduation. Christine Lagarde, a very accomplished woman who heads the IMF was dis-invited from Smith College. Most egregious, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who is one of the most courageous people on the planet, braver than 27 of me, and, oh yea, is female, black, pro-choice and atheist to boot was forced to withdraw from an honorary degree at Brandeis University. Why? The progressive left is all about identity politics and all of the bolded above attributes tick off more than one box in their hierarchy of victimhood. Why were these women scorned? By the effed up rules of progressives all of them should have been celebrated.

Here's where it gets confusing. It's easy to dismiss patterns as conspiracy theory, worthy of scorn. I'll give you an example: I'm willing to bet not one in a hundred Planned Parenthood workers know what Margaret Sanger intended for the organization when she founded it. Sanger envisioned an organization that would surreptitiously commit genocide against blacks. It's right there in her writings, look it up if you don't believe me. PP workers today have no idea of the roots of their organization and would probably violently object when you point it out to them, yet 75% of PP offices are in minority neighborhoods, cheerfully murdering unborn black children. Sanger managed to set in motion a genocide that it's perpetrators don't even realize they're fulfilling.

It's the same in “higher” education. Which brings us to the Frankfort School. Bill Whittle explains it succinctly in this video clip:

The brilliance of these poison fruits is that they live on far past the death of their progenitors. What can we do about it? I don't know. I'm an historian by training, and all I see in history is a descending spiral leading to serfdom. The founders were wise enough to enshrine the Second Amendment in our laws, so we have a chance, but how many of us, myself included, are willing to put that into practice when the dogs of totalitarianism are outside our doors, knowing that it will result in our deaths?

Do you have an answer to that question? I don't. In The Lord of the Rings the question was posed thus: “Are we lesser sons of greater fathers in whose mighty company we are ashamed to stand?”
