The Secret History of Secrecy: TEMPEST
Very cool article on the accidental discovery that our (at the time) state-of-the-art electronic cipher machines had a rather bad design flaw -- "compromising emanations," transmitting electromagnetically and accoustically the encrypted message... before it was actually encrypted.
Neat spy vs. spy stuff here.
