Ron Paul Dscloses $400 Million In Earmarks; Spokesman Defends, Claiming Argument Over Earmarks Is "Misleading"
What perfect twaddle.
"Reducing earmarks does not reduce government spending, and it does not prohibit spending upon those things that are earmarked," the spokesman said. "What people who push earmark reform are doing is they are particularly misleading the public -- and I have to presume it's not by accident."
Really, Ron? Really? This year's earmarks don't typically become part of next year's baseline budget? Those massive supplemental appropriations we have every year aren't required partially because the normal budget of agencies have been misdirected into pork boondoggles by Congressmen?
And note -- Ron Paul won't actually vote in favor of an appropriations bill, or the supplemental appropriations bills his earmarks cause. Because he's too pure. It's unconstitutional, you see.
So instead he just taxes the budgets of every agency by forcing them to spend money on very low priority projects, stealing money way from truly necessary spending, and claims he's the Only True Conservative and the Only Man Who Can Save America because he refuses to vote in favor of appropriating the money he's more than happy to spend.
Sounds like others can claim title to the Only True Conservative -- like Al Gore, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Laurie David, for instance. They shares a similar philosophy of do as I say and not as I do.
Thanks to someone.
