Yawn... Geneva Conventions, Again
Confederate Yankee quotes the Conventions for the billionth time to leftists who seem to have difficulty comprehending their simple language.
What part of "militias... must fulfill all the following requirements" don't they understand?
He quotes Jonah Goldberg, too, who cites my favorite example of when the Conventions don't apply -- to troops caught out of uniform. In dozens of WWII films, it's mentioned that if you're caught out of uniform, you can be hanged as a "saboteur or spy."
As I like to ask leftists: Do you think they were just making that up? Really? All of them using that exact same language? A screenwriter just sort of invented that detail for cinematic purposes? And then everyone followed along, because it sounded cool?
Uh, no. That's from the Conventions. A soldier who observes the letter of the Conventions in all its particulars is entitled, upon capture, to be treated as a Prisoner of War as described therein. Someone who dresses as a civilian, etc., is a "spy or saboteur" and, technically, a criminal.
