Texas School Board Approves "Controversial" Theory That the 9/11 Attacks Were Inspired by Radical Islamic Ideology

The only controversial idea here is that it is radical Islamic ideology that inspired the attacks.

Some might say that plain-old Islam was behind the terrorist slaughter.

The Texas Board of Education gave final approval to changes to the state's high school social studies curriculum, a controversial move that will impact how students are taught about Islam and Christianity.

The amended social studies curriculum, which covers US history, government and world geography, comes after dozens of people gave public testimony, with most expressing their opposition to the finalized version.

The board approved language asserting that "radical Islam" motivated the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks rather than taking a more narrow focus on the terrorist groups involved in the attack.

The material also requires students to study early Islam through Prophet Muhammad's "brutal military campaigns against Jewish and Christian tribes," the "normalization of slavery" and the taking of female captives as "harem slaves."

Several Democratic State Board of Education members pushed back against the wording, but the Republican-majority board still approved that section and the other changes on Friday.

Muslim groups and students, as well as multiple curriculum experts, also spoke out against the new changes.

"I feel attacked, as if my religion doesn't belong," Habiiba Quresh, a 15-year-old Muslim student, told the board, according to The Texas Tribune. "I shouldn't have to defend my religion in the middle of history class because of one sentence someone on this board wrote."

When the Regime wants to talk endlessly about whites practicing slavery, and whites complain, the Regime says that whites are babies with "white fragility" who are just covering up their "white supremacist culture."

When you point out that Islam enslaved hundreds of thousands of Europeans and Americans, and Jefferson had to send multiple squadrons of ships to stop Muslims from enslaving us, they whine that you're imposing your white supremacy on them.

Only (((some people))) are required to reckon with their ancestors' unsavory actions.

A 9/11 Story Some Want Us to Forget

'The Path to 9/11' suggested some inconvenient truths 20 years ago. It's been memory-holed ever since.

A television miniseries disappeared down the memory hole. "The Path to 9/11" aired exactly once, two decades ago. Then it vanished. ABC hasn't shown it since. The network has refused to release it on a disc or as a download. No streaming service carries it.

It's almost like someone doesn't want you to watch it.

Millions of Americans saw the docudrama in 2006, on the fifth anniversary of 9/11. It played across two nights, without commercials. Its major inspiration was the final report of the 9/11 Commission, the bipartisan panel empowered by federal law to investigate the terrorist attacks.

"Few people actually read the report," says Quinn Taylor, the former ABC executive who conceived of the show, in an interview. "Our goal was to put it in living rooms and make people think."

A lot of Democrats took "The Path to 9/11" seriously. Instead of letting it become an occasion to learn from the mistakes of past, however, they proclaimed political grievances. They disliked its suggestion that President Clinton was too distracted by his paramour Monica Lewinsky. They objected to its depictions of Clinton administration figures who blocked O'Neill and others as they tried to thwart bin Laden. They didn't care that many of the people behind the program were fellow Democrats. "I'm to the left of the left," says Hans Proppe, a producer. "We were just telling history."

The most controversial scene involves CIA operatives and their tribal allies in Afghanistan as they prepare to snatch bin Laden from a remote compound. With the villain in their sights, they seek a green light from President Clinton's national security adviser Sandy Berger, played by Kevin Dunn. At first, Berger dithers in the situation room. He looks weak. Ultimately, he refuses to grant the go-ahead order. When the bad news arrives down range, an Afghan warrior asks a devastating question: "Are there any men left in Washington or are they all cowards?"

Berger and others claimed that this never happened. Yet it's based on an incident described in "The 9/11 Commission Report." In 1998 the CIA had identified a possible bin Laden hideout near Kandahar, Afghanistan. For months, teams rehearsed an operation to apprehend him. The plan was risky. Officials debated whether to approve it. Days before it would have occurred, it was called off. "Impressions vary as to who actually decided not to proceed," says the report. It could have been CIA director George Tenet. There's a good chance it was Berger.

Perhaps calling it off was the right move. Maybe the mission would have failed. We'll never know. The report makes a simple observation: "No capture plan before 9/11 ever again attained the same level of detail and preparation."

A couple of weeks before the scheduled broadcast of "The Path to 9/11," ABC sponsored a screening in Washington, D.C. It showed a portion of the program, including the scene with Berger. Almost immediately, Democrats revolted. Harry Reid of Nevada, Chuck Schumer of New York, and three other senators sent a letter to Bob Iger, who was the CEO of Disney, which owns ABC. It warned him about "misinformation," urged him "to cancel this broadcast," and reminded him in the manner of extortionists who run a protection racket that ABC enjoys "a free broadcast license" from the government "to act as a trustee of the public airwaves serving in the public interest."

It was a brazen move. It might even be described as "despicable, disgusting, and against democratic values," which is what Mr. Schumer called President Trump's demands that ABC fire Jimmy Kimmel last year, after the late-night host claimed that the assassin of conservative activist Charlie Kirk was "one of them," i.e., a member of "the MAGA gang."

At least the letter from the senators was a public document. The media reported on it. Americans could read it. In private, President Clinton phoned Mr. Iger and insisted that he stop the show, according to the journalist Carol Felsenthal in her 2008 book, "Clinton in Exile." ABC responded by ordering last-minute edits. The scene with Berger was chopped up. "That was an important sequence," says Cyrus Nowrasteh, the screenwriter. "We were censored."

After the single showing, ABC deep-sixed "The Path to 9/11." The company appears to have no plans for a revival. "It was cancelled before cancel culture was a thing," says David L. Cunningham, the director.

Other movies about 9/11 are available in the usual ways. These include acclaimed films such as "United 93" and "Zero Dark Thirty" as well as "Fahrenheit 9/11," the anti-Bush screed by left-wing polemicist Michael Moore. Only "The Path to 9/11" is absent, perhaps along with the movies that Hollywood never made because producers witnessed the fate of those who dared to question the legacy of Clinton 1.0 and wondered about the prospect of Clinton 2.0, as Hillary Clinton ran for president in 2008 and 2016.

Meanwhile, Islamist propagandists are claiming that images of the "Falling Men" of 9/11 are Islamophobic, and are further claiming that no one actually saw these images at the time, but were later discovered and pushed as propaganda. This is a bizarre claim, and I'm not even sure this claim, even if true, would aid the Islamists.

Hasan Piker jihadsplains that his statement that "America deserved 9/11" was "a joke" and then goes on to say that five years ago, there was reportage about the US's support of the mujahideen which resulted in "backlash" from the Islamic world that resulted in 9/11. He says that he thought this vindicated his older statement that "America deserved 9/11," but he also says that was just "a joke."

"A joke" which he's claiming was vindicated as accurate and true. You know, that kind of "joke."
